Ben-Gvir feels he is the master or #Netanyahu

Ma'ariv newspaper describes the situation as: There is a new prime minister in “Israel”.

They add that in practice, Benjamin Netanyahu has become the servant of his master, Itamar #BenGvir, and this raises the obvious question: To what extent has Netanyahu deteriorated?

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir appeared in front of the cameras a few days ago while leaving the Prime Minister’s Office, acting Prime Minister, and announced in an unambiguous tone: “I warned the Prime Minister that we will not enter #Rafah, nor will there is an illegal deal.

The Prime Minister heard the words, and promised that "Israel" would enter Rafah, and promised that the war would continue, and promised that there would be no illegal deal.

These words and tone of voice leave no room for doubt in the heart of every listener. There is a new prime minister in the State of #Israel.

This raises the obvious question: To what extent has Netanyahu deteriorated? It has reached the point where even a response from a prime minister, in order to preserve his dignity, is not uttered.

Netanyahu, despite thousands of disagreements, knows what the majority of the people want: the release of detainees, and he also knows what is important and useful to the people.

But he follows Ben Gvir and Bezalel #Smotrich, because that is what is good politically for Netanyahu for obvious reasons.

They actually think they have a valid argument here.

It's just unbelievable. Remember some 30 years ago I was having a discussion with a coworker who was part of the evangelical church of "Livets Ord" in Sweden about the intifada and he was using the same argument and claiming that IDF soldiers shooting Palestinians was justified because they were defending themselves against those throwing stones at them.

And also justifying the order or Israeli PM to break the arms and legs of palestinians to prevent them from protesting as "non violent measure".

And of course after October 7, these people think the whole history of Occupation and ethnic cleansing of palestinians is nothing and the conflict started on October 7 that justifies Israeli destruction of Gaza and the ongoing Genocide.

Das könnte 10.000 Menschen im Gaza Streifen das Leben retten oder zumindest verlängern, denn eine ausreichende Versorgung der 2 Millionen Binnenflüchtlinge ist keineswegs gesichert. Im Gegenteil, beide noch existierende Zugänge nach Israel wie auch der nach Ägypten werden nun vom israelischen Militär kontrolliert.

Die Reduzierung der Waffenlieferung durch die USA kam erst viel zu spät - aber sie kam schon mal. Schon vor einem Monat wurde weltweit und auch in den USA angesichts der katastrophalen Lage für die Menschen vor weiteren Lieferungen gewarnt. So schreibt die Frankfurter Rundschau: US-Präsident Joe Biden habe ungeachtet der angespannten Beziehungen der beiden Länder in den vergangenen Tagen „in aller Stille“ die Lieferung unter anderem von mehr als 1800 der 2000-Pfund-Bomben (etwa 907 Kilogramm) vom Typ MK84 sowie 500 MK82-Bomben genehmigt, berichtete die Washington Post unter Berufung auf US-Beamte.

Als "Gegenleistung" hatte Israel weiteren Gesprächen mit der Hamas über die Freilassung der Geiseln zugestimmt. Eine in den letzten Tage mögliche Einigung bei den Gesprächen in Kairo wurde jedoch gestern von Netanjahu abgelehnt. Damit bleibt die vor einem Monat vom UN-Sicherheitsrat in einer Resolution geforderte "sofortige Waffenruhe" im Gazastreifen und die Freilassung der dort festgehaltenen Geiseln weiter fraglich.
