Meine heutige Tagesleistung war, die heimische Containerlandschaft hinsichtlich #Netzwerkisolierung abzusichern und #HomeAssistant in podman-compose zu integrieren. Damit ist das Ding jetzt quasi von aussen erreichbar, neben der privaten #Nextcloud.

Als dezentes Zeichen für den Erfolg habe ich einen LED-Strahler im #Arbeitszimmer blau gefärbt. Soeben kam die beste Ehefrau von allen nach dem #Gassigehen auch zu mir, aber sie hat es noch nicht mal realisiert.

Today, oh wait, yesterday too, I've been annoyed about how hard it seems to migrate from a "install PHP and run NextCloud" instance to "run Docker NextCloud".

Now, I don't consider myself a novice in hosting web services of various flavours. I'd argue somewhat completely opposite. I've hosted various services since the BBS times (if you don't know what that means, you're just not old enough). However here, NextCloud just got the better of me. No amount of reading the NextCloud Docker docs or trying to figure out things myself or searching for people with similar issues, all I get from NextCloud is:

Configuration was not read or initialized correctly, not overwriting /var/www/html/config/config.php

In the order of unhelpful error messages, this is pretty much 🖕 all the way. Yes, I've double and triple checked my mount file permissions. May just need to bite the bullet and install PHP on the new server I want to migrate to 😭 Maybe this is just another PHP thing.

I then and now end up by accident wiping notes on my mobile device, and even though my Nextcloud _does_ seem to keep previous versions of notes internally, I haven't yet found a meaningful way to make that work with the Android app or Quillpad. Is that even possible at all?

Nun gut - der Schritt von #docker zu #podman ist getan und Dank #podman-compose läuft unsere #Nextcloud quasi 1:1 seit 8 Monaten stabil.

Es wird Zeit, den zweiten Schritt zu tun: Den Compose-Rotz in einen #Pod zu migrieren, um dann rootless Port 80 und 443 anzubieten und einfache #systemd - Integration in einem Rutsch zu erhalten.

Hab' ja noch keinen Schimmer, wie ich vorgehen soll...
