The god that lives on the #star #constellation of #Shatabishakh is #Varuna. Varuna is the god of the deep dark. Varuna rules the night and the deep dark seas.

Varuna rides upon #Makara the #crocodile. The crocodile is the animal associated with the #water ruled sexual Chakra. Makara is also the name given by Yogins to the zodiacal sign of Capricorn. The crocodile of Varuna implies the deep Saturnian energy that is required to protect the creative feminine essence of the watery Shakti Chakra.

Shatabishakh Nakshatra

THE #HEALING CIRCLE

#Shatabishak #Nakshatra is symbolised by a #circle with a dark centre. This circle is the circle of the Tantric Ritual.

when we look into the origins of #spiritual practices from all over the world, we see that the circle is a central principle from which they all came. The circle is a wheel that links diverse forces and contains a ritualistic focus within itself.

The centripetal force of the ritual circle is created by those who join in the circle. This force moves inwards towards the space in the center of the circle.

The contained space within the circle becomes a #vortex of #energy that echoes the received resonance of energy and sends it out as centrifugal force.

The space within the circle is the mystery at the center of the nucleus. The eye of the storm is a mystery to those spinning in the tornadoes of existence.

The central place within the circle is the #mystery. The mystery is the #unknown and #unseen place. The unseen place is the dark mystery, that just like the colour black, contains all shades within it.

The center within the circle becomes the altar that absorbs, contains and births all diversities and encases, or rather encircles them.

THE WATERY NIGHT FORCES

The god that lives on the star constellation of #Shatabisha is Varuna. Varuna is the god of the deep dark. Varuna rules the night and the deep dark seas.

Varuna rides upon Makara the crocodile. The crocodile is the animal associated with the water ruled sexual Chakra. Makara is also the name given by Yogins to the zodiacal sign of Capricorn. The crocodile of Varuna implies the deep Saturnian energy that is required to protect the creative feminine essence of the watery Shakti Chakra.

The Shakti Chakra, as illustrated below, shows the crocodile and the six petals of the lotus. Six is the number of Shukra (Venus) Venus rules sensuality and the sexual function, Shukra literally means sexual juice.

Varuna dwells in the West. The sun setting in the West is an indicator of Varuna coming into his power as the sun sets and the night forces take over.

Varuna has a best friend named Mitra, who is his opposite. Mitra rules the daytime where Varuna rules the night.

Varuna and Mitra are bound together in sacred oath of friendship. Their friendship is so deep that it keeps the universe in equilibrium.

Varuna translates as the one who covers and conceals. He covers the sun as it sets and brings darkness by his concealing power of nightfall.

Mitra on the other hand, causes the sun to rise. Mitra uncovers and reveals as the root ‘Mi’ in his name implies, Mitra is said to never close his eyes.

Mitra is the deity who assists the activating of the solar forces, and Varuna assists in activating the lunar forces.

These two opposite forces are tied together in deepest friendship as they keep the cosmological order of Rtta. Rtta is the rhythmical, regulating principle of cosmological order.

Varuna is the deity of the depths and the waters that cover the earth and move with the dance of the Moon. Varuna rules the creatures of the deep subterranean watery underworlds. Much of the depth of sea is a yet unexplored territory for most humans. Varuna is the initiator who reveals the depths.

Out of interest, we find that Shatabishakh Nakshatra is within the zodiacal sign of Aquarius, Aquarius being the water bearer of of Western astrology bears a fluid relation to the watery Varuna. In the Yogic language, this is the sign called Kumbh, this means the pot that pours the fluid of healing upon all beings.

#RAHU THE HEALER

The ruling planet of Shatabishakh is none other than Rahu, the solar eclipsing North node of Moon.

Rahu is the head without a body. Rahu has no fear because nothing can poison him, he can consume whatever he wishes and it simply passes through him.

In Shatabishakh, Rahu brings the power and courage to drink anything, both medicine and poison.

Though Rahu is often considered a negative force, it must be seen that he be a powerhouse of force. Rahu magnifies whatever he touches and the energy of wherever he is gets magnified and multiplied. Just like Shatabishakh Nakshatra, Rahu has the power to cover the sun.

His endless appetite calls in more and more. Rahu squeezes out the very last drop by his will for consumption, even if there is seemingly nothing there, Rahu will squeeze out that which can’t be seen.

This force can be creative or destructive depending on how it is applied and approached.

#CROW POWER

Rahu is connected to the master healer that is the Crow. The Crow can take anything and transform it into nourishment. Crows are often connected with and fed in the rituals of the potent dark shadow casting planets and deities such as Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.

A common remedy to balance the forces of Rahu, Saturn and Ketu is to feed Crows and pay attention to their teachings.

The Crow is not afraid to get its beak dirty, the Crow has no fear. This is a quality needed to reach the depths of healing.

When we resist, block and fear things, we end up denying our power is we turn away.

The Crow is the great healing spirit on account of its lack of fear. The crow will ever turn away, and will eat everything. Crow puts its beak where others fear to peck.

DARK POWER

Let us now consider the meaning of the name Shatabishakh and get a a further insight of the energy that it transports.

The word Shatabishakh is an amalgamation of two words. Shata means a hundred, or hundreds, and Bishakh means healer. This is the constellation of healing power, as well as the remedies and tools of effecting healing.

This constellation is the hundred #healers or the hundredfold healer. The hundred healers of Shatabishakh can just as well bring on a hundred ills, as they can a hundred healings. This Nakshatra can trigger the underworld shadows of the deep sedimentary emotional waters and cause them to surface.

Varuna is a good who holds the noose in his hand and captures the parts of us that escape vision. Varuna has the ability to see in the dark and encircle that which is out of sight. He has the power to teach us the mysteries of the sacred night forces by revealing the dark that lives within his darker skies.

When we come to healing, it is not always a sweet and joyful affair. The dental surgeon might lead to healthy teeth, but the iron implements might fist scour upon flesh and nerve!

Now let us conclude by considering that Varuna is described as the master healer who has hundreds of remedies at his disposal.

Tantra is healing, and healing is #Tantra.

6°40" to 20°00" Aquarius (Kumbha)
#Nakshatra #Rahu #Shatabhisha
The 24th Nakshatra: SHATABHISHAKA.
#SHATABISHAKH #SHATABISHAK
The four quarters are ruled by:
Guru (Jupiter) - the 1st quarter,
Shani (Saturn) - the 2nd quarter,
Shani (Saturn) - the 3rd quarter,
and Guru (Jupiter) - the 4th quarter.

Other aspects of this Nakshatra:
The Purushardha (life's vector or motivation) is Dharma.
Totem animal is #Horse (female).
Symbol - 100 flowers \ 100 healers.
Devata (Deity) - Varuna.
Dosha - Vata.
#Shatabhishaka is the Nakshatra owned by the Northern node Rahu. The entire span of this Nakshatra falls in the sign Kumbha (Aquarius), from 6°40' to 20°00'. People born in this Nakshatra have the appearance of a well-to-do person. But they are very simple, principled people living a simple, straightforward life. They have a good memory and a tendency to remember all the bad experiences.

While the male born in this Nakshatra are generally abase, the females are tall and thin, with a matured expression on their face. Both male as well as female natives born in this Nakshatra are very religious and god-fearing.

When the lord of the Nakshatra, Rahu, is in a fixed sign, the native tends to have an adamant nature. But this rigid attitude on the part of the native is often for some selfless cause, which has the potential to benefit the society at large. Because of their uncompromising nature when it comes to following the principles, these people have to face difficulties in their personal as well as professional lives in the early part of their life. But as the middle age dawns and they mature, they know how to have their own way without getting hurt in the process.

This sign, Kumbha (Aquarius), itself is a sign indicating a research-oriented mindset. Hence a Shatabhishaka born is ideally suited for any scientific career or a research job.

A badly aspected third house in the chart of the native generally indicates trouble form his/her younger brother/sister. These people have to help their relatives often. But the same generosity is seldom reciprocated. Similarly, a badly aspected 7th house and Shukra (Venus) in a Shatabhishaka born chart indicates a troubled married life.

Though well to do in appearance, the health of these people is often weak. They tend to suffer from diabetics, obesity and cold.

Male Natives

  1. Physical features: He will have a soft body, excellent memory power, wide forehead, attractive eyes, bright countenance, prominent nose and bulged abdomen. He would appear to belong to a aristocratic family at the first sight itself.

  2. Character and general events: He is of the type "Satyameva Jayate". He will not hesitate to sacrifice his own life for upholding the truth. As he is born with certain principles, he has to quite often confront with others as he cannot deviate from his principles of life. Selfless service is his motto. He insists on following the religious traditions. He is also of the adamant type. Once he takes a decision it is not easy for others to change his decision. While he is very intelligent and efficient in most of the walks of life, he is very soft in his heart. He is the mixture of good and bad.

When he is provoked, he will rise like a bulldog, but that anger is soon subsided. As he does not believe in pomp and show, he has a feeling of shyness to exhibit his talents. However, his talents will be unearthed due to his interesting and attractive conversation, which will be highly instructive and educative.

  1. Education, sources of income/profession: Period up-to 34 years of age will be a trial some period in his profession field. Period after 34 years will be the period of constant progress. He is highly suited for the practice of astrology, psychology and healing arts. His literary capacity and greatness will come to limelight even when he is very young. He is capable of acquiring very fine and high education. This Nakshatra has produced eminent doctors and research fellows in medicines.

  2. Family life: Generally he has to face a lot of problems from his dear and near ones. Even then, he always extents his helping hand to his near and dears even without asking for such help. It has been noticed that native has to undergo maximum mental agony due to his brothers. He cannot also enjoy much benefit from his father, whereas full love and affection is derived from his mother.

It has also been found that he is not capable of leading a happy married life. In some cases, when there is severe affliction of Saturn and Jupiter, it has been found that the native remains a chronic bachelor throughout his life. While on the one hand he does not enjoy happy married life, his wife will have all the good qualities that are expected of a companion.

  1. Health: Outwardly he may appear to have very good health but it is not like that. He cannot tolerate even the slightest affliction to the body. He is prone to urinary diseases, breathing trouble and diabetics. As he is too much inclined in the sexual pleasures, he may have sexually transmitted diseases. Even though he may keep illicit relationship with other females it will be kept a secret from all. He may have problems with his jaws. He is also liable to suffer from colic troubles and must take precautions to protect himself from the diseases incidental to exposure to cold weather.

Female Natives

  1. Physical features: Tall and lean, fairly handsome, elegant disposition. Flushy lips and broad cheeks with prominent temples and buttocks.

  2. Character and general events: She will be very calm-natured. But at certain times she is also hot-tempered. She is very much inclined in the religious activities as she is god fearing. Due to her hot-temperament, she is mostly confronted with family quarrel and this will result in frequent lack of mental peace.

She has very good memory. She is highly sympathetic and generous. While she does not expect anything in return for her humanitarian action, she is quite often misunderstood not only by the general public but also by her own family members

  1. Education, sources of income/profession: Interested in the scientific study. Percentage wise assessment shows that most of the female doctors are born in this Nakshatra.

  2. Family life: While she loves and adore her husband, her life will be full of problems. Sometimes long separation from her husband or widowhood has also been noticed.

#Shatabisha #Nakshatra spans 06º40′ to 20º00′ Aquarius. This Nakshatra is ruled by the Lunar Node #Rahu and it’s deity is #Varuna, the God of the Celestial Ocean. This Nakshatra, right in the middle of Aquarius, also shares some qualities with its native sign. It’s about equality and union, yearning to unite rather than separate.

There is not much room here for the singular ego but a sense of humanity coming together and being united under one leadership. The more aggressive planets Sun and Mars do quite well here in a sense of being able to offer such drive and authority. Saturn is also in a good position in this Nakshatra, not only because he is in dignity in his own sign Aquarius, but also because Saturn, the planet with possibly the most difficult rap sheet, is in fact a planet for the masses and wants nothing more than one united front to move forward and get the work done. Saturn is not comfortable with the development and thriving of the individual ego.

When we find the softer planets Venus, Jupiter and the Moon in #Shatabishak Nakshatra in a natal chart, we may experience more difficulties with this constellation as they may lack the driving force to get things done and can be too “benevolent” in character, though they all can contribute much needed creative energy.

Mercury and the lunar nodes can align well with the technological aspect of this sign and star and can bring ideas and plans to fruition and ultimately monetize on abstract concepts turned into physical reality.

This Nakshatra is much about equality and justice, and Varuna, Shatabisha’s ruling deity, is the one delivering this justice. Those who go against universal law and the bonds made between the gods and humanity will have to face Varuna whose punishment won’t be light.

Varuna rules the oceans and the milky way, forming a bond between this material world and the celestial dimensions. He is the deity of the supernatural, the occult and hidden, dark magic. Here is where Karma ripens and punishment may occur.

Illness and disease contracted when the Moon is in Shatabisha Nakshatra is said to be incurable or very difficult to cure. This is because illness born under this star is of karmic nature, not just physical nature. In order to treat and cure illness related to Shatabisha, we have to not only heal the body but work on a deep psychological level, and recognize which karmic deeds might be at the root of the disease.

Even though the Rahu ruled Shatabisha Nakshatra is fierce in nature and associated with illness, obstacles, harm, punishment and even violence, just like everything there is a positive side to its shadow aspect.

Shatabisha’s shakti is the power of healing, and just as much as it can make it near impossible to cure diseases, and by extension addictions and other obstacles, that are “born” here, so can a treatment or cure applied when the Moon transits through this Nakshatra offer healing.

I have written more about Shatabisha’s role as a healing Nakshatra in the New Moon in Shatabisha Nakshatra post earlier this year. You can find it here.

In closing I want to leave you with this thought: Nothing is ever black or white. Darkness needs light and light needs darkness to exist. In order to actively work with this Nakshatra we have to be willing to do a little soul searching and shine some light into the deeper recesses of your mind. Obviously learning about your life through Astrology can be greatly helpful.

There are several authors who have written about the mental involvement in the process of disease development and it’s a good idea to learn as much as possible about the non-material reasons of why and how illness can manifest. The esteemed author Louise L. Hay has written a number of books on the topic.
