Estonian authorities refused to let a woman back into the country, despite having lived there for 40 years, after she left for a few days to visit her friend in hospital in St. Petersburg.

Zoya Palyamar has lived in Estonia since 1983, but she was never granted citizenship. She had only the so-called gray passport of a non-citizen. On Thursday she took a regular bus to St. Petersburg, but after crossing the border she reportedly received an SMS notification that she had been deprived of her residence permit in Estonia.

In Tallinn, she left all her property, as well as her daughter and two grandchildren - all citizens of Estonia.

To finish off the quick Tallinn visit, a quick tour to the west side of Tallinn, then on the boat. Yesterday's patch gave up, so had to switch inner tubes at the seaside, which wasn't so bad with a nice sea breeze and view. Luckily i thought this would happen and bought a new tube yesterday.

Much more to see in this city!

Slow crawl yesterday cycling around Tallinn, focusing on the east side. Had a great time even though the sun was blazing hot the whole day.

Tallinn is rather ok to cycle around, though it is a rather car heavy city. There are some dedicated cycle paths, but mostly the small amount of cyclists seem to ride on the sidewalk. Lots of waiting to cross wide roads with a heavy amount of traffic. On the plus side, lots of parks to enjoy.

Best fun part of the day, ending up in the huge botanic garden due to OpenStreetMaps navigation telling me to go through it, but the route ending up on a locked gate. I soon got a bit lost there and struggled to find a way out having arrived through a random open gate in the forest. Leaving via the ticket counter with my bike I put on my best smile and carried off.

I must say OSM routing was dubious at more than one occasion during today, telling me to cut through rather inconvenient little paths or make crossings across busy multi-lane roads in seemingly suicidal places. Possibly lack of maintainers?

All in all a really fun day exploring the city.
