"Approximately Perfect"

There's a palpable feeling of hope and joy with the increasingly clear swing of the pendulum towards sanity & ‘normalcy’.
I think this cartoon by Dave Granlund captures what could be a tipping point, a return of hope.

As our awesome Grandpa Joe is taking a much-deserved and timely bow, and confidently passing on the keys to the Corvette.

Letzthin kam ne junge Kollegin an, und saget: "ah, Du hast auch so ein Ramones-TShirt? So eins hatte ich auch mal." Ich war überrascht, weil ich dachte, dass sie echt nicht so der Ramones-Fan ist. Mein ebenfalls anwesender Kollege, Ingenieur und alter Knacker, so wie ich, meinte trocken: "Sie (also ich) hat aber ein Lieblingslied der Ramones, und Du nicht." Die junge Kollegin, ebenfalls überrascht: "Ach, das ist eine Band???"
Nun trage ich den fiesen Gedanken, T-Shirts zu drucken, mit doofen aber populären Bands. Ich gebe zu, es ist ein Racheakt, aber ich will mehr Donna Summer, oder dann, die Herrenausgebe "Sounds of Summer" was zwar ein Album der BeachBoys ist, aber egal. Mein gott! Die Ramones sind eine Band??? Stell Dir vor!

Bad YouTube! Trying to leave and the YT/Brian Wilson algorithm gods delivered another one up, another totally unexpected angle on this song I'd only casually known. A Brian Wilson and family favorite. With the voice Brian envisioned. Duly shared. Happy Sunday.

So, on a long air flight I had the chance to see this film I'd not heard of, about the great #BrianWilson (Beach Boys, etc.)

For me it was like the magnificent book Glimpses, in which a fictional character gets to hang out with a few stars, including Brian Wilson, in his car, visiting old homes and haunts, etc. In this movie, it's deja vu! Befriended by a Rolling Stone reporter, who has some natural (soothing) therapist chops, Brian talks about the "scary" stuff as well as happy memories, and plays DJ as well as a willing subject for questions and DJ'ing of his host/chauffeur and companion - in real life now!

Anyway, he spoke of his relationship with his brothers, the music scene and California scene, and favorite songs, his own and others'.
And Pet Songs too. One song he singled out as one of the best songs he wrote, a favorite, was this one:
