We are loosing birds more than any other type of animals, partially because of the urbanization and industrial agriculture, but also because of the increasing number of loose cats all around the world that killed over a billion birds in Europe in 2022 alone. The numbers are much higher in US and Asia.

"The journey begins with the first step..."

I've finally sorted, thinned and viewed weeks' worth of images from the Florida swamps.
From the southern Everglades, as far South as I could get, I headed Northwest to Corkscrew Swamp.

This is the first image from there, and destined to be the title page on a home-made 'collection'. A start... More to come.

It's a lovely swamp... 🐊

I have been trying to cultivate a relationship with critters in my yard so that I might at least be able to take pictures of them.
For the last year in the morning I put out peanuts and peanut butter filled pretzels along with fresh water.
So far, if I am late they make noise and let me know. But they are still really skiddish.
It's fun to watch them decide which treat they want.
