James Caan passed away. He played with John Wayne, Marlon Brando, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Annyoing Orange. And he was one of the best actors I can think of.

Im Bahnhof Bamberg
denke ich an Wollschläger,
der den Joyce übersetzt hat
und die Geschichte dieser Stadt aufschrieb,
so, dass sie ihn nicht mehr dort haben wollten.
Ich fahre mit einer arabischen Laute
durch das Land der Hexenverbrenner.

Die Eingeborenen hören mir freundlich zu,
nach dem Konzert ein langer Fußmarsch
am dort noch jungen Main.
Am kleinen Bahnhof,
dessen Fensterscheiben zerschlagen sind
und die Türen vernagelt,
treffe ich nur einen einzigen Menschen,
auch er ein Fremder.
Ich habe meinen Lohn in der Tasche,
er zeigt mir seine leere Geldbörse.
Er spricht schlecht deutsch,
ich noch schlechter arabisch.

Er ist aus dem Irak.
Der Schaffner,
bei dem ich für ihn eine Fahrkarte
kaufen will, spricht fränkisch
und winkt ab,
lässt ihn umsonst mitfahren.
Ich glaube, er erlebt so etwas öfters.

Wir freuen uns
und schauen aus dem Fenster.
Unter dem bunten Herbstlaub
brauner, zäher Lehm.
Neben dem Metzger
das Büro
einer neuen Partei.

In Europe there is a similar idiom - great name for a band - an "elephant in a porcelain shop".
Quite an interesting difference, as captured in the cartoon versions. #Nuance More below. Going down...

But here [is the legendary cowboy/muleskinner guide on the #Kalaupapa trails down the sea cliff down to the colony which he personally helped for many years with his mule-back runs down a 26 switchback trail of sheer sea cliff. [ Photography ]

Meanwhile, yes, idioms. Like people, 'diverse'.
People everywhere have some metaphor in non-human nature to explain fellow humans trapped &/or out of control.

The American version of the cartoon is 'children only' (true! on Fox Family TV) - what we all are brought up seeing in cartoons and using as a metaphor for... the raging bull, so oddly finding itself itself thrashing about China. heh #reality

The French version portrays a more civilized #society with an endearing elephant. Agile really: But amid porcelain, maintenant...
