Prof Richard Wolff ~ The Ukraine Crisis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8KhRkbEld8

#ProfWolff reveals the #truth behind the growing #tensions between the #US, #Russia and #Western #Europe. This is yet another example of #distraction #politics. The #Biden #administration is seeking to #deflect #attention away from the #domestic #issues it is confronted with, while also attempting to squeeze #Russians out of the #European #energy #market and move #Americans in. But is whatever is happening in the #Ukraine worth a #war between 2 #nuclear #powers like the US and Russia? This question, #Wolff argues, begs an answer.

If we have a commitment to #Ukraine, we must honour it or our commitments mean nothing. There's more than enough #military #power in #Europe without the #USA to dissuade #Russia. Move 40,000 #European troops into Ukraine with anti-missle, anti-air & anti-tank hardware. If you want #peace, prepare for #war. Deploy now. Weakness is not respected.

The #Russians have 54,000 to 72,000 troops, plus 3000 to 4000 vehicles, plus 35 aircraft surrounding Ukraine. Ukraine has about 200,000 troops, plus 30,000 vehicles and 125 aircraft. The Russians are likely better trained & certainly have better hardware. However, the Russians stand no chance against #NATO, even without the USA. European NATO is more than a match.

Russia is likely testing our commitment to Ukraine, which we ought to demonstrate immediately. We must not abandon our allies, neither must we initiate war frivolously. We must deploy to Ukraine with 40,000 troops and defensive hardware, & leave when Russia has finished its "training exercise," leaving the defensive hardware behind with small teams to train Ukrainians in its use.

Fair is Fair

Someone near #Ireland is gravely concerned because the #Russians may do #missile tests nearby.

Whatever they are up to. this can’t be good, and it is right in my backyard.

Hmmm... That might be just how the Russians along the #Ukraine border feel when NATO troops are pouring into Ukraine, the main ex-Soviet Republic.

Especially when in 1990 George Bush the elder promised #Russia that #NATO "would not expand one inch" towards Russia.

And, since that statement:

note: that last big gray one on the right is Ukraine.
