3 #Movie #suggestions for the #Christmas season

Following the idea of @anonymiss, here are my three movies:

  1. All-time favourite: Dark Star. I think Dan O'Bannon is a very underrated filmmaker who had a diverse set of talents. Dark Star was his student film (with John Carpenter), which later had an additional 10-minute scene added for a theatrical release. It was made on a shoestring budget but has a great concept, a very witty script and fantastic deadpan performances from the actors (including the dead captain and voice of the ship's computer). O'Bannon later wrote the script for Alien and you can see the genesis of some of the ideas in Alien in this movie. The first time I saw this film was in the late 1970s, now I own the Blu-Ray, and I have probably watched it about 20 times.

  2. Current movie: No Time to Die. I usually go into James Bond films with pretty low expectations. In general, they are formulaic with a very predictable structure and a few set pieces. With No Time to Die, I was pleasantly surprised. The opening scene was an excellent piece of filmmaking, more like a horror movie than typical Bond fare. The plot went in some unexpected directions and there was, dare I say, a little more emotional depth than is typical for 007. Not a perfect film by any means, but definitely worth a watch.

  3. Worst/trashiest movie: Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Nothing is more fun than ironically watching good bad movie with your friends and this is one we watched together last year. We had just watched the Star Wars Holiday Special to celebrate Life Day, when one of my friends mentioned the existence of the two Ewok movies. I had never heard of them so of course we had to watch them. They are both unbelievably bad made-for-TV movies that were clearly a cash grab to capitalise on the popularity of Return of the Jedi. But one fun piece of trivia is that the Blurggs which appear in this film are properly brought into Star Wars canon by The Mandalorian.

What are your 3 movies?

3 #Movie #suggestions for the #Christmas season

So at least I'm getting a white Christmas this year. However, it's freezing cold outside and there's a lot of slush. That's why I thought we could give each other some movie ideas under the hashtag #3movies.

1) The first movie should be your all-time #favourite movie or a movie you have already seen several times and would watch again and again.
2) A current movie that has surprised or fascinated you recently for a specific reason.
3) Either the worst film you've ever seen or the trashiest. A trashy movie can also be fun and you can sometimes laugh about bad quality.

Of course it would be nice if you could write something about the 3 movies without spoilers. Have fun and invite your friends here to participate :°)

I dont #like the #like button. And I dont #like #unlike. I only mark what catch my short time interrest. This does NOT mean that I #like this. It could also be a fast #bookmark, but for this there have to appaer a list of this somewhere in my account.

I don't like this "xx ikes this" on #facebook and I find this ugly on #diaspora. And I realy hate the #heart as a symbol for "likes",.

Please #offical #support of #diaspora remove this crap. Please guys from #geraspora help on this. And as one of many #suggestions replace it with a simple white and if clicked golden #star as a symbol for a marked interessting stuff OR a done #bookmark. Maybe this star could have a counter but no text.
