Eindrucksvolles 3D-Modell des deutschen U-Boot-Wracks UC 71 aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg vor Helgoland - AiD Magazin

UC 71 war als U-Boot der Kaiserlichen Marine während des Ersten Weltkriegs im Einsatz. 1916 gebaut, versenkte es unter Einsatz von Torpedos, Minen und Sprenggranaten 61 Schiffe. Kurz nach dem Krieg sank es 1919 bei einer Überführungsfahrt nach England unmittelbar neben der südlichen Einfahrt vor der Nordseeinsel Helgoland – angeblich aufgrund von schlechtem Wetter. Untersuchungen 2014 ergaben jedoch, dass sich das U-Boot selbstversenkte. Das zu dieser Zeit wieder entdeckte Tagebuch des damaligen 4. Maschinisten Georg Trinks, der 18 Monate auf UC 71 lebte und kämpfte, bestätigte letztendlich die Selbstversenkung.
