I was on a walk the other day and came across a pile of #timber. I also happened to have my #camera with me and I liked the #GeometricPatterns and #Colours I saw.
In this one, you can see the #ConcentricRings of the #TreeTrunk plus some radial splitting of the #wood.
Here's another one where you can also see evidence of the cutting blade.

This last one is of a distorted, non-circular section with correspondingly distorted rings.

In 1953, 1983 en 2009 werd de bescherming van de persoonlijke levenssfeer herbevestigd in respectievelijk het Europees Verdrag voor de Rechten van de Mens, onze Grondwet, en het Europees Handvest. In 2018 trad de Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming in werking.
Maar nu we deze grondrechten eenmaal hebben, tekent zich een zorgwekkende trend af. Terwijl het aantal ernstige misdrijven op een historisch dieptepunt is, reageren we volgens criminologen steeds ‘hysterischer’ op de steeds minder overgebleven bedreigingen, ten koste van die zwaarbevochten grondrechten.
Hoewel overtuigend wetenschappelijk bewijs van effectiviteit ontbreekt, blijven we het land volhangen met steeds meer camera’s. (...) Alle vervoersbewegingen worden geregistreerd: ‘openbaar’ vervoer vereist een chipkaart en vliegtuigpassagiers worden vastgelegd in internationale databanken.
En het einde van de grondrechtenuitverkoop is nog niet in zicht. Vanaf 6 oktober moeten mensen die naar de Europese Unie willen reizen een gezichtsscan en vingerafdrukken afstaan. Nederlandse politici willen een identificatieplicht invoeren voor sociale media. Om strafbare feiten op te sporen wil de Europese Commissie preventief de digitale privéberichten van alle Europeanen gaan scannen, inclusief foto’s en video’s. Ook die van u. (...)

Haatalgoritmes aanpakken in plaats van anonimiteit. Databanken terugbrengen tot proporties die beheersbaar en zinvol zijn, en niet eindeloos laten groeien. Het is een keuze tussen een toekomst waarin technologie een regime van angst, wantrouwen en controle oplegt, en een toekomst waarin de democratie is gebouwd is op respect, vertrouwen en vrijheid. De geschiedenis heeft ons geleerd dat het gemakkelijker is om rechten kwijt te raken dan om ze terug te krijgen. Laten we ervoor zorgen dat toekomstige generaties over de door ons gemaakte keuzes niet hetzelfde hoeven te zeggen.

I have got three (3 !) #olympus #digital-camera (all 7 - 10 years old)
one doesn't work any more - the „tough model - haha !... I use it as a loading station for the batteries
always getting on my nerves that every single model has another #USB conection cable
after some 15 years the #EU at last decided some standarrdization of this cable mess
15 years - hurray !! (don't mentiion #transaktionssteuer #transaction-tax - perhaps in 1200 years ?)
now I wanted to reload these batteries (also especially designed flatt batteries for Olympus) via USB
didn' t work properly - not on the broken one nor on the other #camera s nor with other batteries
so trying to do it via my #laptop
BANG ... or just .... nothing - laptop dead/destroyed
by chance the laptop only served as „ersatz“ - I got my data back-upped from the pc... but anyway...
as some guys recommended me a cheap laptop due to the endless ... sorry .... shit installing cups in #linux

I had one ordered.
so I put out the hard disk from the dead laptop and installed it in the HP Windows laptop
(funny: did t find the hard disk in the HP ... no 2,5 inch hard disk - just a tiny SSD one ... how small they are nowadays... I know: I am getting old ;)
after some trying in the BIOS I managed to get #Ubuntu started in the HP notebook in secure mode and could rescue my data...
I 'll install linux mint now (and buy another monitor from #lapstore (also broken...) - don't rely on #ixsoft any more...)
and what should I do with the cameras now ? did these old, flat Olympus batteries kill the mainboard or the USB cable
I only found pages on internet about a USB kill switch for #jornalists and #whistleblowers wjen the police storms ths house...
