Researchers in the United Kingdom have built a 14%-efficient organic PV device that can be used in high-speed optical wireless communication systems. The cell consists of a 4x2.5mm photoactive layer fabricated with a bulk heterojunction of a polymer donor and fullerene and non-fullerene acceptors.

The US cadmium telluride thin-film module maker said its Series 6 CuRe panels are able to retain 92% of its performance at the end of the 30-year warranty. The improved stability of the product was achieved by eliminating copper and placing Group V elements such as antimony or arsenic onto the tellurium crystal sites.

Three new Irrawaddy dolphin calves born in 2018. Great news. But, will they survive past 2 y.o.? Remains to be seen. All previous calves have died because of organochlorides, pesticides and other pollutants in fish & water, which damaged their immune systems leading to fatal diseases - according to 5 years research by Dr Verne Dove...

Irrawaddy dolphins have long life spans. Hence, the present population consists of adult dolphins.
It's great that the Cambodian government has reduced gillnets and harm to the dolphins. However, if they really wanted to protect this species from #extinction they ought to be implementing strong measures to reduce water pollution and should not go ahead with the construction of the Stung Treng Dam & Sambor Dam as these will "sandwich" the dolphins confining them to a very small area and reducing substantially the species of fish they depend on for survival.

Thanks to a legal victory #Privacy_International obtained earlier this year, the #UK’s #Investigatory_Powers_Tribunal is now required to search through data the #GCHQ obtained from the #NSA for #information collected on #anyone in the world if that person so requests it. If #you #request the #info and the #Tribunal finds something, it must let #you #know. The catch is #you have to make the request before December 5, 2015. #Privacy_International has made this easy with its “Did GCHQ Illegally Spy on You?” online tool.
Earlier this year the #Investigatory_Powers_Tribunal in the #UK ruled that British intelligence services acted unlawfully when they accessed the #private #communications of millions of #people that had been collected by the #NSA under its #mass-surveillance programs known as #PRISM and #Upstream and shared with the #British #spy agency. The #PRISM program, which began in 2007, allowed the #NSA to collect #data in bulk from #US #companies like #Yahoo and #Google. The #Upstream program involved the collection of #data from #taps placed on hundreds of undersea cables outside the #US.
The #Tribunal will only search for #records #shared between the #NSA and #GCHQ prior to December 2014. And, unfortunately, it won’t #reveal if the #GCHQ obtained #data about #you on its own and/or #shared it with the #NSA, or if the #NSA spied on you and didn’t #share that #data with #GCHQ. The amount of data the #Tribunal will search may also be limited.
