#Cycling in #StormIsha was fun. To work, there was a very strong #Headwind which added about 25% to the time getting there, at least the sky was blue. By the time I’d finished, the #wind had died down to a brisk #Breeze but there was quite heavy #rain. However, I always have my #WaterproofTrousers at this time of year and so I didn’t get wet.
I used the anonymous interface to #ChatGPT to write a #Haiku for the occasion (https://anonchatgpt.com/). Here it is:

Cyclists brave the wind and rain,
Pedals spin through pain.
I #cycled to work during heavy rain and into quite a gale this morning. I was #cycling at less than half speed for much of the journey and about two gears down. At one point, I had to cross a place which was waterlogged owing to an overflowing drain but it was about 25 cm deep which meant that I basically had to #ford it and the water entered my shoes from the angles. So, for the whole morning, I left my socks on the radiator in my office and stayed in there bare footed. during that time.
#Cycling home today was fun. The first bit #storm designated #StormCiaran is here and so the #rain was heavy with a south-easterly #wind gusting to about 50 km/h. Luckily, I'd packed my #waterproof #overtrousers and so I didn't get too wet except around my ankles, wrists and a bit down the back of my neck.
After a hiatus of over two weeks, I have a new #bike. When I took the last one in for a service, the replacement of worn out components would have been nearly as high as the cost of a new one. So I took the decision to retire it and to get a new one. Instead of #black, this time I've gone for #red which and this one has #disc, rather than #rim #brakes. I spent this morning transferring a few things over from the old one like the #BikeComputer and bottle and pump holders.
In the meantime, I was determined not to use my car for commuting the relatively short distance to work. When I say relatively a short distance I mean by #bicycle, it's 5 km and so on foot, that about a 50 minute walk each way. I could have chosen a bus but it would mean either changing buses to get to my place of work or getting off at a stop quite far away which would still require a 15-20 minute walk. I reckoned it would add up to about the same time.
