Electric 3-wheelers that are smaller than full sized cars and can slip through dense traffic but large enough to carry a lot are becoming very popular in the Philippines.

"Candela's hydrofoil electric speedboats set new world record with international voyage."
International because they went from Sweden to Finland. And back. 150 nautical miles == 172 regular miles == 278 km. From Stockholm, Sweden, to Mariehamn, "the capital and largest town of the Åland Islands, an autonomous region of Finland", but with a charging stop in Kapellskär, Sweden. The part from Kapellskär to Mariehamn was 1 hour 20 minutes. That stretch is 36 nautical miles one way.
"The voyage marked the first time an electric boat has ever crossed the Baltic Sea, and it did so in style, flying roughly a meter above the waves on a hydrofoil boat. The Candela C-8 makes use of computer-controlled hydrofoils that lift the boat out of the water, leaving just 1% of the boat in the heavy resistance water. By soaring through the air, the Candela C-8 uses just 20% of the energy needed by other boats."

"The Uruguayan company teaching people how to turn regular cars into EVs."
"Over the years, González Barrios and his team at Organización Autolibre have helped convert thousands of traditional vehicles into e-cars across 14 Latin American countries. The company trains individuals and mechanics through online courses, and supervises conversions for corporate fleets."

Electric vehicles are rumored to be capable of running vastly more miles (or kilometers, if you prefer) than internal combustion engine vehicles. The reason is electric motors are mechanically simpler and undertake much less wear and tear for the same miles (or kilometers). What limits electric vehicles is the batteries.

"Tesla retreats from next-generation 'gigacasting' manufacturing process."
"Last year, as Tesla developed a new small-vehicle platform, it aimed to punch out the underbody in a single piece." "The long-term goal was to radically simplify manufacturing and slash costs."
"But Tesla has since halted the effort, opting to stick with its more proven method of casting vehicle underbodies in three pieces: two gigacasted front and rear sections and a midsection made of aluminum and steel frames to store batteries."
I didn't know they were down to 3 pieces. Shows what I know.
Article goes on to say the reason for this has to do with the EV industry becoming more competitive, with China's BYD taking sales away from Tesla. I think BYD is already the world's largest electric vehicle company.

"Electric vehicles are better than gas-powered cars in winter -- here's why"
The electric vehicle can start heating the cabin immediately without making you wait for the internal combustion engine (ICE) to heat up. In fact it can start while it's still plugged in to the charger in the garage and not on batter power, and pre-warm your car for your trip.
And engineers continually improve heat transfer systems so it moves any extra heat wherever it's needed, whether it's heating in the winter or cooling in the summer.
Most of the complex parts in a car that require viscous fluids do not exist in an eletric vehicle, "no engine or transmission to worry about", so you don't have to wait for viscous fluids to warm up for the car to function efficiently.
Electric cars have smaller grille openings in the front for air intake, and flatter underbodies without driveshafts or tailpipes, giving them lower drag coefficients which helps in winter when the cold air is denser.
"Electric vehicles are less reliable than conventional cars" says Consumer Reports.
"Electric vehicle owners continue to report far more problems with their vehicles than owners of conventional cars or hybrids, according to Consumer Reports' newly released annual car reliability survey. The survey reveals that, on average, EVs from the past three model years had 79 percent more problems than conventional cars. Based on owner responses on more than 330,000 vehicles, the survey covers 20 potential problem areas, including engine, transmission, electric motors, leaks, and infotainment systems."
Must admit, I expected electric vehicles to be more reliable than conventional cars. Maybe eventually.
"How California could pave the way for an industry standard EV diagnostic system."
"If your gas-powered car was manufactured after 1991, it is most likely equipped with a mandatory On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system -- a computer that monitors the health of the engine and various other components, effectively functioning like a doctor for your car."
"For electric cars, a standardized OBD system has been notably absent."
"It seems like the authorities have taken this matter seriously. From 2026, California Air Resources Board's Advanced Clean Cars II program would require automakers to equip their EVs with a standard diagnostic system, similar to the OBD II in internal combustion engine cars."

Tesla’s lithium refinery, which CEO Elon Musk called a “money-printing machine,” is now expected to come online sooner than anticipated.

"Honda has a new e-scooter called the Motocompacto, which has an aesthetic that I would describe as 'irresistibly, heartbreakingly dorky and adorable.'"
"The new Motocompacto features an updated, but still retro look, with an all-white body that looks vaguely 1950s pop sci-fi. The scooter folds down for portability, and has a total range of 12 miles, with a battery that charges to full in 3.5 hours with its onboard charger using a standard household outlet. It will retail for just $995."
"Honda's Motocompacto has a top speed of 15 mph, and it's aimed at first- and last-mile transportation needs."
