Impactful winter storm likely late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Hazards:
10 to 20 cm of snow.
A few hours of freezing rain and ice pellets.
Hazardous travel conditions.Timing:
Late Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.Discussion:
Snow associated with a major winter storm is expected to arrive late Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday morning. Snow may change to ice pellets or freezing rain Tuesday night. Several hours of freezing rain are possible, particularly in the Ottawa Valley. The amount of snow will depend on how quickly precipitation changes to ice pellets or freezing rain, although some locations may receive 10 to 20 cm of snow.
This is a heads up to the potential development of an impactful winter storm with heavy snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain. The exact track of this weather system is still somewhat uncertain, and as a result, expected snowfall amounts and precipitation types may change.
Warnings may be issued as this event draws nearer.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays
Oh no, we are being gifted a curated impactful storm. Funny how my spellchecker says "impactful" is not a word.

Having offered a link to my "Words" page, I revisited it after 11 years and found it ...
still fun and with many still-live reference and research tools. But a few links needed updating (after 12 years!)
I found some of my old-favorite pages that are no longer with us, courtesy of the Internet Archives / Wayback Machine & Updated my page. Here's one I enjoyed while immersed in writing, teaching, coaching... I'll try to link my main page reference below, but hoping this will lead write to the somewhat-shrunken but still list lesson:

Ok, so we say 2 points, 3 points, etc, which makes sense, because these are plural.
And we say 1 point, because it's singular
So far, so good.
But why do we say 0 point*s, 0.5 points*...
Maybe I'm missing something because I am not a native English speaker. What's the rule here?
Let's get it together in the new year eh?
