It's more about qualifying for labor law coverage, folks.

All the press I've seen on this and everybody who has tooted about this in my news feed has missed the entire point of this move. It would mean that any number of hours in a week that exceeds 30 hours means getting paid overtime. All the companies who hire workers to work under 40 hours a week in order to avoid giving full-time employees the benefits that a full timer is entitled to, they hire under 40 per week to avoid calling their employees full timers. Etc.

Now get the fork back on track, you overpaid pencil pushers.

For more than eight decades, the rhythm of a 40-hour workweek has been a (mostly) common experience for workers of all stripes across America. But Sen. Bernie Sanders this week introduced a bill that would shorten the workweek to 32 hours — with the same pay and benefits. Would the reduction in hours threaten small businesses or be a boon to workers? If you're outside the U.S., what is the workweek like where you live? Read about the bill in this report from AP and share your thoughts in the comments: https://flip.it/7eMhc3#
