A quotation from Watterson, Bill

CALVIN: Dad, how do people make babies?

CALVIN’S DAD: Most people just go to Sears, buy the kit, and follow the assembly instructions.

CALVIN: I came from Sears??

CALVIN’S DAD: No, you were a Blue Light Special at K Mart. Almost as good, and a lot cheaper.

CALVIN: AAUUGHHH!

CALVIN’S MOM [off panel]: Dear, what are you telling Calvin now?!

Distracting preschoolers with devices could cause trouble down the road, study suggests

Parents who steal a moment of calm by handing over a smartphone or tablet to a fussy toddler could set off a cycle of poor anger management and other problems, according to a recent study.

Research published last week in the journal Frontiers in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry says using such devices for emotional regulation "can be effective in the short term" but in the longer term could lead to technological addiction, "screen time tantrums" and make it harder for kids to cope with stressful situations.

I think the difficulty is that most of us, at least those who are in #authority, they prefer #violence because they want quick solutions and to be able to #control people through #fear. And so they encourage more and more violence so that they could maintain that fear.

And it has seeped so deep down into society that we, even our #parenting style has become violent. Every time we #punish a child for misbehavior we are planting the first seeds of violence in their minds. They come to realize that anybody who does something wrong must be punished. And so that whole cycle of violence continues from there.

What it means now is that we have to look for an alternative and try to incorporate that in our life. And i think that is what my grandfather [ #MahatmaGandhi ] wanted to do and he demonstrated through his philosophy and his life, that it can be achieved and it can be done if we have that desire to do it.

This was describing Geraldo Rivera until that last line. It seems that wingnut moronic tendencies runs in batches.

Live your life so that you don’t one day find yourself-being publicly mocked by Jon Stewart for wearing bow ties
- hosting an infotainment show that makes its audience dumber
- making a special flight to Moscow to create propaganda film clips for Vladimir Putin.

That is some serious fucking #parenting failures there. What a wasted life. #TuckerCarlson

A quotation from Gibran, Kahlil

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

I'm so proud of my younger daughter. She spent a lot of time with me documenting how to cook the foods she likes and managed to cook the pork dish almost perfectly.

It's one of the greatest joy of parenthood to see how kids embrace the food culture and adapt it to their own taste. She loved (and missed) my cooking and trying to explain over video or by text didn't work, but she recorded, photographed and documented the ingredients and all the steps and cooked dinner for the family last night.

Her sour cream is not like those here in France so it wasn't as thick and creamy as the ones I make, but she got the hang of it, cut the pork in small, thin strips, added enough salt and pepper and managed to convince my wife to sacrifice a glass of her wine for the food😂😂

She is going to try 3 Iranian dishes that she documented and complement it with watching some videos and reading the instructions from other sources.

I'm sure she will be able to have a pretty successful student life because she won't need to be dependent on premade food or cheap pasta dishes when she goes to university in Sweden. Plus it is a great way of saving money and eat well when money is tight.
