Just in... (nee "BREAKING!", so overused given its nonstop looping, that it broke)

SCOTUS unrobed

SCOTUS will hear the case of COLO's intent to block Lord StableGenius from being on their State ballot due to the crystal-clear mandate of the 14th Amendment

However... they are "Supreme" and may have some #GQP -infused ideas about COLO's 'standing' or action based on the USC.

#Ballot access for major and minor party #candidates (US)

In order to get on the ballot, a candidate or party must meet a variety of state-specific filing requirements and deadlines. These regulations, known as ballot access laws, determine whether and how a candidate or party can appear on an election ballot. These laws are set at the state level and apply to state and congressional candidates.

There are three basic methods by which an individual may become a candidate for office in a state.

An individual can seek the nomination of a state-recognized political party.
An individual can run as an independent. Independent candidates often must petition in order to have their names printed on the general election ballot.
An individual can run as a write-in candidate.
For state-specific ballot access requirements, select a state from the map below. If on a mobile device, select a state from the dropdown menu below.

The table below lists statewide candidate filing deadlines and primary dates in 2024.

Meanwhile, before or after the turkey, ham, or Chanukah leftovers... Christmas Eve, 2023, bounding towards a New Year...

Here's an interesting bit of legal/political perspective from George Conway, ex-Federal Society fan, AKA Mr. KellyAnne...
No spoiler or details except to say, it's actually a little comforting after the jolt of the SCOTUS (in)action and questions about COLO.

"The Colorado Ruling Changed My Mind" - George T. Conway III / The Atlantic

"The strongest argument for throwing Trump off the ballot is the weakness of the counterarguments."

That same lower court judge also found that Mr Trump had participated in an insurrection in the 2021 US #Capitol riot. His supporters stormed #Congress on that day while lawmakers were certifying #President Joe #Biden's election victory.

A bit of very clever maneuvering on the part of the Judge (or else a very serious oversight, depending on her motives)

Colorado ruling is 'the very worst decision Trump could get': former solicitor general

The Judge may have used this trial as an opportunity to establish, as a fact, that Trump is guilty of insurrection:

FTA: "There's a factual finding, that the judge said, which is Trump committed insurrection, and then there's a legal part that the 14th Amendment doesn't apply to the office of the presidency. On appeals, Jen, the factual findings get massive deference by the appeals court. It's almost impossible to overturn a trial judge's factual finding."

2023 LOCAL ELECTIONS MATTER

what do we know about getting out the vote?

I know personal contact matters

peer pressure works

impress on people that they are voters, that this is part of their identity

invite people to ask for whatever help will make their voting easier -- child care, transportation, information about where/when to go and what they might need to bring

information about where/how to register, and help to do that

make it fun with get out the vote parties, after vote parties, strategy parties, community parties ("political parties" but the fun kind)

what else?
