The server that runs #diaspora blue screened Tuesday at 3:10am local time. I have attempted to remedy the situation without success. As soon as I have investigated more I will update from this account. I do not have a timeline on when this issue will be resolved.

I have attempted every bootsec, sfc, dism command on the internet to no avail and will most likely have to reinstall the OS from scratch and slowly and painstakingly reinstall and import everything missing. #fml #podmin

I have been having a problem with my main server. It cannot hold "internet" for more than 15 minutes (or less). This has been happening for the last week. A little background is I have a Ubuntu 20.04 virtual machine running on Windows 10 via Oracle VirtualBox.

I share the WiFi connection with the host, and about every gig of data, or about 15 minutes, my host OS network just stops working. It says that it is connected to WiFi, but after every single troubleshoot, it says that the "Default Domain Name Server could not be reached" then resets the WiFi adaptor, and then the internet starts working again until the aforementioned case happens again. If I don't even start the VM, it takes longer to get the 1 gig of data, but eventually no internet again.

What I want to know is where the breakdown is happening. Is my WiFi nic bad? Is my router bad? Is the Oracle VM drivers screwed up somehow?

Well, it took two week, but I was finally able to plug in the server at the new house! No, I am not completely moved in and there are boxes everywhere, but the server is back up and running (although downtime will be high for the next two weeks as everything finds their way into their respective places). In a separate but neat (to me) point, download/upload speeds have changed from old 300/11 Mbps to 475/33 Mbps. #nota404mn #podmin #moving

Will update #nota404mn Diaspora pod to latest version and take a backup as it is long overdue. I am also _temporarily _ enabling registrations as I see lot's of user's "losing" their pods. #podmin #admin @Daniel Doubet @danieldoubet (backup)

Nota.404.Mn Extended Downtime Update

I was hoping that I was just missing something and it would be easy, but it appears that it may be a lost cause.

So, if anyone is searching for why #nota404mn is down (https://nota.404.mn), I am changing servers because it appears that the old one is broken beyond repair. I estimate that it will take 12 hours to migrate the data between the two servers. Sorry for everything. If in the off chance that the new server does not work, I will simply restore the backup I have… then give users 3 months to get their data off… and shut it down permanently. I hope that it does not come to this, and I’m sure it won’t, but I want to make everyone aware that this is a possibility.
