Retiring is getting harder

... The retired Brisbane couple told A Current Affair they have scheduled 51 back-to-back cruise journeys onboard Princess Cruises since they first set sail in June 2022 — and they don’t plan to disembark any time soon.

The Ansens have already spent nearly the last 500 days living at sea as part of their 795-day voyage. ...

Chaplain's tent" with announcement of service

Well, Retirement Kinda Sucked. Back to Work.

5 months at "idle," so to speak. Even though a lot of cool stuff happened over that time (finished studies, passed presbytery exams, got ordained, preached at three events, got "promoted" to Battalion Chaplain the Florida Battalion of Infantry, a civil war reenacting organization, and celebrated the arrival of my first grandson), #retirement sucks for the most part. It feels unnatural to be idle, and on top of that, my pension - which supported us just fine for the first few months - no longer keeps the bills paid. That's how rapidly this #Bidenflation has drained the value of #money! So, back to #work and glad to be there. Got a nice job at the little airport near this rural area, doing what I enjoy and getting a few extra dollars to keep up - maybe for another couple of weeks or months _ with this stupid Bidenflation. I don't think I believe in retirement as a concept anyway.

Retirement Ain't for Me

In principle I never liked the idea of #retirement anyway. You just stop contributing to your own family, the local economy, etc, and become idle. I can understand reducing a workload that has become too heavy, maybe going part-time and making up the difference with #pension money. I kinda did that when I quit my 14-hours-a-day 70-hour-per-week job that paid less than I take home in my pension now. Family and physician both said I was literally working myself to death. Okay, so I "retired."

I used the time to finish school, get through presbytery exams and get ordained to the ministry, a lifelong hope of mine. It matters much more since I'm chaplain for the whole battalion now (that's the reenacting stuff I do, the War Between the States). I consider that work at #living-history events to be a vital ministry, and it certainly has borne fruit already. In September, we'll reenact the battle at Chickamauga, Thousands of reenactors will be there and it will be awesome times ten to the zillionth power.

In the meantime, though, it's back to #work for this ol' boy. Even with all the studying and "chaplain stuff," there's too much idle time and too little money for the expenses of the living history stuff. So tomorrow I'm back at work, 40 hours a week instead of 70, 8-hour days instead of 14. In the familiar surroundings of an airport (a very small one this time) and doing work I enjoy. Life is good.

There are no cats in America!

Remember "Fevel goese to #America" , the song stayed in my mind as watching #propaganda and warmongering posts, videos, TV shows and movies repeat the same thing again and again.

"power USA stands for àfreedom" and war is good, for your #stock portfolio, for your #retirement, for your way of life.

Here are a few of the most obvious ones from Jeff #Bezos #WashingtonPost.

Meh ;)

Nothing to be proud of.. but at least something I can be happy about.

My private bankruptcy (german legal thing), which has been going on for over 6 years, will end soon. Now there is still another year in which I would have to pay off the court costs if I could.. Unfortunately, this is still not the case. Living from retirement thingy and social security.

But at least. another stress topic that comes to an end... yay...

meh ;)
