House Democrats urge Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from Trump Colorado ballot case

The former president has asked the Supreme Court to overturn a ruling in Colorado that he is ineligible to appear on the state primary ballot because of his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

But but...

A group of House Democrats, led by Rep. Hank Johnson, of Georgia, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee’s courts subcommittee, demanded that Thomas recuse himself from the case in a letter dated Thursday.

“This time, we must urge you to recuse yourself from any involvement in the case of Anderson v. Griswold, because your impartiality is reasonably questioned by substantial numbers of fair-minded members of the public, who believe you wife Virginia ('Ginni') Thomas’s substantial involvement in the events leading up to the January 6 insurrection, and the financial incentive it presents for your household if President Trump is re-elected, are disqualifying,” the lawmakers wrote.

Former lead impeachment lawyer, now Congressman, Dan Goldman... has, with colleagues sent a concise and profoundly clear letter from Congress - stating the obvious: Ginni Thomas not only participated in, but promoted and fund-raised for the #Jan6 insurrection, "insurrection" as clearly defined in both dictionary and history, as well as two recent court decisions.

Thin-sliced: Having a justice in effect ruling on his wife's behavior and what that was, and meant, would be, to be precise, unthinkable. If we live in a sane world and democracy. So, please Clarence, come in off the yacht and look at yourself, if you can.

That last point was just made by Dan Goldman (live, moments ago) on MSNBC, Last Word w/LO'D... If you can see it live/DVR'd on cable or streaming, it's on now/later. It's not up as a snippet online, though I hope it is soon. So clear. So obvious. So difficult to imagine a respectable and rational reply.

This was real. And an inconvenient #truth for the hubby of a #seditionist and tool of #TrumpVirus

Meanwhile, in an odd moment of Rupert being Rupert, on Trump being Trump....

Alvin Bragg, NY's DA overseeing the case against #TrumpVirus at a New York level, has been getting death threats.
Today, after Trump " #Truth 'd" a post of himself holding a baseball bat aimed at a photo of #AlvinBragg, the DA received an all-caps Death Threat (a truly Drumpfian wordsmith, ~ "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"), accompanied by a white powder. It was harmless (the powder) but reminiscent of yesteryear's anthrax attacks on politicians. (i.e., "domestic terror")

A sort of very New York'ish phenomenon; This appeared in Murdoch's small-circulation tabloid, where - as Lawrence O'Donnell highlighted, the paper knows it's in Blue country (Hamilton was too!) and caters mostly to NY'ers looking at the gossip pages who may buy the Post, and maybe a few curious Dems after headlines like this.
O'Donnell's point: So why the complete opposite on huge-viewership Fox and the big-circulation papers? Still solid Carlson land.

On the Post cover and in the editorial, Trump is clearly credited with being the cause of a vile effect. And maybe more.

So... Rupert Murdoch.... Remember him? The guy who was sued for billions because his "Fox" inflamed sedition and lied, as he defamed Dominion voting machines by going along with the "Big Lie" that they were rigged, or hacked from Mars, or whatever...

So Rupert's also Donnie's long time buddy and cohort in catch & kill and disinformation, not about red or blue, "about the green".

Well, Rupert, sort of like Lindsey Graham (another #TrumpVirus spreader and #Jan6 #seditionist - Rupert's in a good mood I guess, about to re-marry at 93 and 'speaking his mind' now about the Donald. Making like the Dominion lawsuit is nothing ('a billion here, a billion there'), and it turns out he's just having fun, like so many other billionaire fascists.

Yesterday Rupert Murdoch's NYC rag (founded by Hamilton!) disparaged Bragg, typically opining:

Fumbling his Trump case, Alvin Bragg exposes his incompetence nationwide

Not too sympathetic or justice-focused....

But today, after the death threats, this full-page NY Post cover - and even better, a blistering editorial just dissecting every evil instinct and habit that Trump epitomizes, and skewering him, with this absolute truism (we've heard before)

Trump won’t change, and that shows he can’t win

This from his once partner in word-poisoning crime, fellow green-seeker who doesn't take sides, only cash.

The American casino mogul, raised in a poor Jewish immigrant family in Boston as the son of a cab driver, established lavish hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore, and headed the world’s largest casino company, Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Adelson’s wealth made him a formidable figure in American and Israel politics and in the news media. He was a vigorous supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, former U.S. President George W.
