Separate from budgets, but some "conservative"/ "Tea Party" GOP'ers have long portrayed the system as broke(n), which it is not, and tried to loot 'the people's' senior safety net and benefits to fund their own projects, now depleted by their spending.

The article doesn't say so, but it seems that Twitter isn't responding to the takedown notices as US law requires ("expeditiously") because of the #Musk layoffs.
This is big. #SocialMedia platforms cannot operate in the US without a safe harbor from copyright lawsuits. It's as if Musk sawed off the wings of his plane to save weight.
