Definitely the buttons, the oft-overlooked indispensable invention, and same can be said of bound books (a vast improvement over scrolls). Both are essential parts of my particular time machine.

So today is Button Day (established in 1938). My grandma left me her collection of buttons, along with two of her sewing baskets, and a biscuit tin full of notions (a British band name, perhaps? “Biscuit Tin of Notions”).What are things that connect you with your past?
