All #sounds come from a single QM Caruso played live without additional effects and without any treatment - right from the stereo outputs. The general #sound has something magical to it imho. All sounds are #factory #presets, which I chosed as "the best" of this #instrument. Of course there are also a lot of #accordion and #organ sounds (the organs are not bad either, but not exactly my cup of tea). Some factory presets (mostly #pads) are surprisingly good and they don't hide the fact that the Caruso has limited D/A converters, which makes the sound "lo-fi" in general. It sounds quite nice - what do you think?

The Quasimidi Caruso is not very common outside #Germany, very cheap nowadays, it's a good choice if you like lofi digital #synth sounds from the early nineties! #synthétiseur

KRAMER - "BUKOWSKI ON THE BEACH" (Official Shimmy-Disc Video)

The album by Kramer, ‘Music for Films Edited by Moths’, is accompanied by a series of videos made by Dutch multi-media artist Tinca Veerman, whose organic visuals seem to embody Kramer's atmospheric compositions. Tinca Veerman is a restless artist. She looks at the world around her and cannot help but see abstract shapes. She is not interested in making realistic renderings, but in isolating parts and movements of objects and natural elements, so they become abstract and multi-interpretable. Veerman works intuitively, waiting for the right moment to ‘dive in’, to cut, edit, paste, or draw to reveal, in her own words, ‘the shape I feel should be there’. In her collages (ranging from large-scale and thickly layered to small and delicate), videos, and sculptural fabric pieces, she explores various ways of abstrahizing; departing from a deeply personal space to transcend it. Repetition is not her thing. Music is another source of inspiration for Veerman

East Forest TEDxBend "From The Inside Out: Unlocking Our Future"

Amazing performance by Trevor Oswalt in which you need to hear it to believe it.

Under the moniker of East Forest, Portland’s Trevor Oswalt weaves ethereal soundscapes from vintage keys, intimate vocals and original field recordings. His sonic architecture reflects motifs of nature and the inner spiritual landscape, and experiments with elements of pop and contemporary themes. The wide-ranging textural sound has been called “blissful” by National Public Radio and has been compared to Sigur Ros, Bon Iver and Explosions in the Sky. He has collaborated with Deepak Chopra, shared stages with artists including Moby, Sarah Neufeld and Random Rab, and composed and licensed music for TV, film, theatre, apps, video games and dance companies.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Protecting Tranquility One Square Inch At A Time

https://mountainjournal.org/connoisseur-of-natural-sounds-says-we-need-to-defend-tranquitlity-from-invasion-of-human-noise

Everyone should be blessed with a place they can call their own—a place where they can feel intimately connected with the rest of life; a place where they can shed, like water off a salal leaf, the cares of a busier, stressful, noisy life back home.

Everything Is Wrong: Bernie Krause’s Concept of ‘Biophony’

https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/everything-is-wrong-bernie-krauses-concept-of-biophony/

Krause’s theory certainly had the advantage of not just presenting the most detailed explanation model for the acoustic environments surrounding us today, but actually offering potential insights into the evolution of species on the basis of sound. Before there was animal life on the planet, after all, the only noises were those springing from “nonbiological subcategories such as wind, water, earth movement, and rain.”

Sounds of the Forest

Sounds of the Forest

We are collecting the sounds of woodlands and forests from all around the world, creating a beautiful soundmap bringing together aural tones and textures from the world’s woodlands.

We invite you to visit your local forest or woodland, and record for us one minute of the sounds that you hear. If you already have existing recordings of forests then we’d love to hear those too.

At the start of July 2020, on the weekend we would have been at Timber Festival, we released a soundmap of forests everywhere, listening and imagining ourselves in the heart of the National Forest with you.

The sounds form an open source library, to be used by anyone to listen to and create from. Selected artists are responding to the sounds that you gather, creating music, audio, artwork or something else incredible, to be presented at Timber 2021.
