Just a random short comic (but canon) which I have the miraculous chance to draw out. Features Vic the newbie techie, Aaron the manager, and Tsumura the hacker.

Vic asks Tsumura for answers because Tsumura can hack into the government's database on all Sigma inhabitants and once peeked at Aaron's records. Asking Tsumura was also how Vic knew who and what he is.

Does anyone have a guess on what Aaron's main gig might be? o_O
(even I don't know it!)

Well, after a crazy wintery time up in Northern District, Vic finally gets a break.

First thing he's gonna do is head home to his little apartment in Capital District and change the wheels of his skateboard. Winter wheels, out; normal wheels in.

Happy holidays, everybody. 🎄 May y'all be able to spend it with people who are precious to you.

Complementing BGM: [Jeremy Soule – "Snow Covered Landscape"] (Dungeon Siege II OST, 2005)

I wanted to draw something for the winter as I usually would, but I had no idea of what and who to draw. My pal, @/TheSalguod on dA gave me an idea, so here it is. I forgot to add Vic's dark circles under his eyesssss aaaaaaaaa (will edit the dA version only later on)

While everyone gets cosy and comfy in their homes or being with close friends and families, our lone ranger Vic travels from the Northern District back to the Capital District during this time off. He's got no friends up north or whatever anyway (and Aaron doesn't count as one). Once in the Capital, he gets a call from Tsumura to hang out; maybe grab a drink at Crimson Angel Restaurant. Vic was about to decline because he'd prefer to be on his own, but then he realised it's the holidays, man. And so here they are, having hot chocolate and taking a break from life.

Vic thinks to himself that maybe he does have a friend, after all. And sure, it snows almost every day in Sigma, but sometimes even the most mundane of things feel better when enjoyed with good company.

:: 46-046 [RO] Typical Day ::

Wasn't sure if I wanted to share this here as well, but...

My RO characters (from left): Thomas the Archbishop (priest), Kei the Sniper (archer), and Mef the Shadow Chaser (rogue). The archer and rogue are fan-fic only characters. I don't have them in-game. Background is game screenshot of Prontera. Might be too blurry to see its fountain and the church at the back.

Here Thomas gives his best friend, Kei a typical day's greeting. He likes to tease Kei, but Kei doesn't mind. Together, they would train, but would later part ways when Kei goes off to do his side gig of a delivery man. Meanwhile, Mef was enjoying a candy cane that morning. He sees them and recognises the priest whom he still wants to know the name of (but can't ask directly, to avoid suspicions).

Drawn based on my Ragnarök Online fan fiction which I wrote for the sake of stress-relief and boredom. The story is about how a newbie agent (Mef) of a rogue guild gets caught up in a high-ranking case surrounding a priest (Thomas). All he wanted to know was the priest's name and while he did get to know it, the case turns serious and he gets dragged into it with seemingly no chance of escape.

P/S: Thomas is called a pervert by Kei because he once told Kei (among other things) that he wanted Rothert (a badass AB)'s boots on his face. Thomas: ≖‿≖ o̶r̶ ̶u̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶s̶l̶a̶m̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶w̶a̶l̶l

Thomas is a nice guy, whatever it is.

:: 46-045 [SG] Can't Go Wrong ::

My OC, Vic enjoying his current task as a newbie army technician.

He met with a skilled mechanic from a workshop along the streets of the Northern District. The mechanic (a Nocturnal named Sergi) told him, "The best thing about working with machines is that you just follow the blueprint and everything will work the way it's supposed to. You can't go wrong. Everything connects to something."

Vic found himself agreeing to this. Good thing he could memorise blueprints without even trying. He should be able to fix things on the fly. As he continued working, he thought, 'Maybe those damn old men made a good decision after all, sending me here...'

Notes:
I didn't make him this way just because he's an ISTP. Dude's been this way even before I knew about MBTI; and even so, I totally did not expect Vic to be an army technician. Gawrsh... M'boi is all grown up now, fixing big toys. :') Also, I just drew this for fun and did not really research technical stuff. I do welcome comments of it, hehe (if I'm wrong or whatever).

:: 46-044 [SG] You Again ::

My OCs, Vic and Aaron. It seems like a fateful meeting has taken place. After a few months of being in military camp, Vic was transferred to the Northern District of Sigma. Unknown to him, his former boss named Aaron was also transferred there (but months before him).

As he tried to find his way around, Vic stumbled upon Sector 24 of the ICM that made metals. They met up at the bridge at the entrance and did a quick catching-up. Vic eventually spoke to Aaron about how he felt like leaving the army if he could; but Aaron told him to stay put, that he might learn something. Give it a year or two.

"...I might need an extra pair of hands from time to time, who knows? Whenever you're free, that is," said Aaron.
"Always looking to boss me around, huh," joked Vic. "Slave driver."
"And you're unexpectedly my favourite slave."
Vic smiled. Their work style was compatible with each other, and he found that interesting as well.

Well, Vic ought to get going. He doesn't want to get bad rap with Silas.

Vic starts getting used to Silas' rigidness and realises that Silas is actually pretty strict. Vic would liken him to an army version of Aaron.

Speaking of Aaron...

...Vic recalls that after RESET was shut down, Aaron was nowhere to be seen. Whenever Vic mustered enough courage to call or message him, he never picked up. There were a few rare times when he did reply Vic's messages, though... but all in short sentences. Where has Aaron gone to and what is he up to?

While thinking of this, Vic walks on along the hallway to get to the ICM Sector he's assigned to for the week; but he realises he was lost, against all odds. 'Must've taken a wrong turn somewhere...' he thought. 'Man, this is a new low (for a guy who memorises floor plans for a living).' Meanwhile, someone peeks in from the doorway of the Smelting Sector. An eager face.

P/S: Got an idea for basic ICM structure by looking up SIC codes. Man, sure makes me miss my old job.

:: 46-042 [SG] Relocation ::
(SG = Sigma realm)

My OCs, Silent Silas and Project Vic.

Alas, the Sigma Government's Dept of Defence decided to cease operations for their subdivision, RESET. That means everyone in RESET will be relocated accordingly. Mr Aaron is powerless against the Board of Directors, no matter how much of a smooth talker he can be.

As such, Vic has been (forcefully) transferred to be part of the army. He is given proper training and he'd be in the technical team due to his 'kinship' with blueprints. For practical training, he is relocated to the Northern District, an industrial region —on an inside joke that "machines should mingle with machines", to which Vic gives his superiors the finger and gets court-martialed. And during that time also, Vic sneered at them, saying machines can't be court-martialed, so they can go fek themselves. He gets detention/imprisonment for two months (one month per offence). Apparently, he's a machine when it comes to work, but a person when it comes to punishment.

Anyway, Vic has no complains about going north because he has been wanting to modify his skateboard for winter terrain anyway... and it beats having to look at the idiots at HQ. So, for starters, he gets transferred to a familiar government agency, the Infrastructure and Construction Management (ICM), and he is to report to a familiar poker face: that of Silent Silas'. He tries to get a peek at Silas' tablet to know where he is to be assigned.

Misc. notes:
I actually wrote a little piece on Vic's transfer to the ICM, but I didn't realise I deleted it... So, I don't know which Sector number of the ICM is for what activity... T_T If I have life in me, I will (re)think the ICM layout a bit.

Hello, everyone! Yes, this is the Artfol Challenge that managed to convince my hand to finally draw something after 2 months of artist block. [ Artfol link]

It features Vic, with Tsumura at the back there with a non-ergonomic workstation. As for the person standing by Vic's legs, I hope you guys can guess who it is, haha~

Remove yourself, Vic; you're in the way.
Huh, Vic's not budging. He wants to lie down on the couch, no matter what.
Someone stops right next to his jutting-out legs, saying, "Your salary for the month is reducing with every passing second you block my path, at a rate of n-minus-1 per second."
Vic doesn't react. He's going to show he's not scared of trivial pay cut threats. He wants to lie down on the couch, no matter what.
Seconds later, Vic opens his eyes and realises no one is there anymore, except Tsumura at the back.
His phone beeps a moment after. He flips it open and sees a text message that reads, "I will discipline you after this."
He closes his phone and continues lying down. 'You don't scare me, Suit,' he thinks.

:: 46-015 Don't Worry For Now ::

Vic is concerned.

He hasn't seen his boss, Aaron a lot lately and there has been no talk of work from that ESTJ -- and that is highly suspicious. Worse, their team is down to four people now: him, Aaron, Tsumura, and a yet-to-report-in physician. :') The rest have been transferred elsewhere. (Vic wouldn't admit it, but having Maddox and Silas on the team would be great.)

Vic can see things are looking bleak.

Tsumura, although surprised at Vic's concern about a Suit and about work, tries to comfort him by saying it's alright, that Aaron's probably attending meetings and discussion on what their next expedition will be. "Aaron is the best boss," he says. "We can count on him."

Vic is not convinced.

Misc.:
My OCs, Tsumura the I.T. guy and Vic the inter-dimensional traveller. They're hanging out at Tsumura's place. His room is usually darker than this, but he knows Vic gets annoyed with dark environment, so he switched on an extra light. I wanted to do up the bg to show Tsumura's room, but I realised that Tsumura now lives in a unit within the government quarters, so this scene pales in comparison with his natural habitat. :') Lotsa restrictions on computer stuff; Government's keepin a close eye on this ex-convict.
And uhm... tbh, I'm not to happy with this piece. :/ And I think I will go back to my usual brushes.

"Where did you say you were from again...?" Thomas asks Vic.

What if Vic stepped through a rogue portal (a sudden portal with random destinations) and ended up in Midgard (that of Ragnarök Online)? o_O And for the heck of it, he meets my RO priest, Thomas Benedicta! xD I bet you he'd be in the midst of making holy water.

Thomas wouldn't be too weirded out at first because Vic's outfit is like that of a Mechanic’s (alternate version), or if he has a gun with him, he’s a Gunslinger. In terms of tech, Midgard’s like the Nexus in its glory days, so it should not be too hard for Vic to adapt. Besides, portals are such a norm there.

Still, some things will definitely be weird for Vic, like a priest having a pet ghost. Whispersio waves hi at Vic, but if it punches Vic, that's true friendship!

Misc:
I'm trying out a new brush set, 'Chalks for Children'. It's quite fun. I also avoided using ruler/line tool for the window for more squiggly-ness, haha.

It just occurred to me that no matter which life he was leading, Vic always had a Nocturnal by his side. Vic doesn't really have the Noc vibe, so he couldn't have been drawn to them. Were they drawn to him then?

When he was in LA, his best friend Matthew was a Nocturnal (not that any of them knew this at the time).
When in old Nexus as Sorcerer Vic (or 'Freaky Vic' as he calls it), he had Matsuri watching over him.
Now, when he's in Sigma, he's got Tsumura with him.

Makes me wonder if there was any of my OCs who always had an Aquila or a Místic with them.

After many months, RESET (Research and Special Expedition Team) sends a few people forth to go on a final trip to Nexus to check up on the Nexus camp of Remigrants. It wasn't compulsory, but Aaron wanted to make sure they were all doing well for just one more time before conclusively closing the book on Sigma's Migration chapters.

The team consists of our red chilli Vic, of course, curly-haired Thompson (a PMC), and one random medic. No, not Maddox. Maddox actually applied to be exempted from any future Nexus trips due to "health issues".

So here, under a tent, Vic gets the status report from Officer Annie (now known as just Miss Annie) and according to her, everything was going well. Their little settlement still has ways to go, but they will manage. After getting all the needed info and pictures, the team heads home. Vic reports to Aaron, Aaron likes what he sees, and Aaron will report to the DoD and make sure DoD also like what they see.

So... to conclude the trilogy: Vic has found a place to call home, Tsumura gets to remain in his homeworld, Aaron's hitting homerun with RESET and the Remigration Project, and the Nexus people (especially Jayden) that had to leave home have now returned to it.

The Journey Home trilogy has (finally) ended.

Vic sees two soldiers in the DoD hallway while waiting for Aaron.
This is from a time when the three of them didn't know each other yet, and when RESET was still not fully-established.

Was supposed to be a monochromatic semi-chibi, but I guess it became something else. x'D And uhhh I am aware that Maddox and Vic are too close to the edge... and that Maddox is too close to Silas, lol.

📖 Snippet:
After a few moments of leaning against the wall, Vic heard two men walking down the hallway. They were wearing military uniforms, talking. Vic stood straight now, curious.
One of them had an expressionless face, while the other had a face like he had been annoyed his entire life. They walked past him, but the expressionless one paused. Seeing a civilian made him curious, but being here must mean he's a government employee. He looked at Vic and asked, “Which department?”
Vic only looked at him.
“Which department are you from?” he asked again.
“Uh… RESET,” answered Vic, hoping that was it. The other guy looked at Vic like he was disgusted just by the sight of him.
“…Reset?” he paused to think. “Oh, RESET.” With that he nodded and carried on. Vic heard the other guy asking him what RESET was.
Once Aaron was done and the two were headed back, Vic asked “Saw some soldiers just now. Do people not know about RESET?”
“Not yet,” said Aaron. “Right now, only the relevant people would know… and maybe their direct subordinates. Once we make our first expedition, a revisit, then we’re official and they’ll know us.”

:: 45-063 [TJH] So Hospitable Pt 2 ::

Jayden is hurt! No worries, Maddox is a medic, he knows what to do -- though he had to constantly shove Jayden's hand away from the wound so he could tend to it before it gets infected. Browning, Vic, and Thompson only looked from afar.

Apparently, the discussions with Satsuma no Ren, leader of the Nocturnals, did not go well. Despite the hospitality, Ren was clearly against the idea of having humans back in Nexus. Jayden continued to persuade Ren to have a change of mind, and Vic was telling him that the Sigma Government isn't giving anyone a choice right now, be it Nexus locals or the immigrants they plan on sending back. Sure, Vic could try get Aaron to work his charisma on the government officials, but there was no guarantee.

So, Ren figured that perhaps a little stab on a RESET personnel might nudge them in the right direction.

📖 Story snippet:

Cautiously, they retreated to the shores where their boat was. The Nocturnals that were around only looked at them as though making sure they left the Land of Night.
"What did you say to them??" Maddox asked Vic.
"That I would ask Aaron to consider who gets to go back," replied Vic. "Apparently, he wasn't convinced that humans wouldn't be sent back here. He got hostile on us, but not Browning, and apparently, not towards you guys too."
"Why?"
"I think because you're all from Sigma. Only me and Jayden are Nexus humans. So, WE are the problem. The unwanted."
Maddox silenced. "Damn, sucks to not be wanted by both worlds."
Vic felt like shooting him right that moment, but the thought faded because the look in his eyes did not match the harshness of his words. There was no smirk, no condescending look... Did Maddox mean that in an honest and sorry way? Was having an injured team mate dampening his annoying side?
Once they reached the shores of Vista, Maddox tended to Jayden's injury properly, carrying him close to where they parked the truck and leaned him against a tree.
