BAC Consulting: The Shell Company Behind Israel's Terror Operation in Lebanon

Israel allegedly manufactured booby-trapped pagers through a shell company called BAC Consulting, which was established in #Hungary to pose as an international pager producer. The devices were produced under contract with a Taiwanese company, Gold Apollo, but contained batteries laced with the explosive PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate). The pagers were shipped to #Lebanon and distributed among Hezbollah operatives, who used them for communication without realizing they were rigged with explosives.

At least 32 people were killed in the recent explosions caused by booby-trapped pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon. Among the casualties, some were #Hezbollah members, but others included civilians, with reports indicating that four of the deceased were children.

"we did nothing"

Israeli media outlets have quickly moved to clean up the aftermath of the IDF's attack on the humanitarian zone in Khan Younis, prominently publishing IDF's denials

The IDF insists that Hamas is lying about the number of casualties, claiming that 40 people were killed in the attack on the humanitarian area. However, photos from the scene appear to contradict this assertion.

In an official statement, Hamas stated that the IDF's claims about attacking Hamas militants are "a blatant lie aimed at justifying their crimes." Hamas also asserted that its members are not staying near civilians and are not using civilian facilities for military purposes.

The statement called on "the international community, the UN and all political, humanitarian and legal institutions to stop being silent and take responsibility for stopping the ongoing crisis that has been going on for 11 months."

Israel v. Telegram : According to this article in #Haaretz, which was published last week, #Israel has had limited success in removing content from #Telegram compared to other platforms like #Facebook and #TikTok.

While #Telegaram has become a major platform for disseminating leaked information and Hamas propaganda, Israeli officials have attempted to contact it's founder, Pavel Durov, to address the issue of Hamas-related content on the platform. While Telegram didn't remove all the content, it did block access to some Hamas channels from within Israel.

Israel has managed to remove several Telegram channels that were publishing stolen information from the Ministry of Justice. However, the effectiveness of these efforts is limited, as hackers find new ways to distribute the information.

The article mentions that Israel's approach differs from Western countries, which tend to focus on prosecuting leakers rather than preventing the spread of leaked information.
Israel's efforts to remove content from Telegram and other platforms are seen as partially successful but face challenges, especially with the use of decentralized networks and servers based in non-cooperative countries like Russia.

#Israel / We Served on Israel's Sde Teiman Base. Here's What We Did to Gazans Detained There

This investigative report in #Haaretz contains disturbing testimonies from several #IDF soldiers and medical personnel who served at the Sde Teiman detention facility (allegedly torture camp) in Israel, where Palestinian detainees from Gaza (mostly civilians with no relation to the Hamas, Nukhbah or October 7) are held.

The testimonials document the inhumane conditions, psychological abuse and practices, like constant restraint, sensory deprivation, and threat of violence. The
testimonies mention being instructed to view the detainees as non-human, to enable or justify abusive behavior. They also reveal the issue of inadequate medical care, lack of oversight, whihc allow abusive acts (often occurred in areas without camera coverage,) and little accountability for mistreatment.

More interestingly, soldiers show mixed reactions. Some were disturbed by what they witnessed, others seemed to accept or even enjoy the abusive treatment of detainees. Some personnel tried to justify the harsh treatment by citing "security needs", or what's really at play, revenge for the October 7 attacks.

There's also indication that conditions at Sde Teiman may have marginally improved in recent months. The publication of this report, given existing international awareness of Sde Teiman, could be strategically timed to demonstrate the functioning of Israel's legal system and internal oversight mechanisms. While efforts were made to limit information flow about the facility, the controlled release of such reports can serve Israel's interests by portraying a degree of transparency and self-correction. However, a more effective approach to ensuring humane treatment and adherence to international law would be to implement independent, international oversight of these detention facilities.

The choice of imagery by Haaretz for this report is notably sterile and less disturbing compared to surveillance camera footage shown on Channel 12 news earlier, showing detainees lying on the ground in diapers.
