Banksy pledges to help save Reading jail with stencil sale | BBC News

Banksy has offered to raise millions of pounds towards buying Reading Prison where Oscar Wilde was once held, so it can be turned into an arts venue.
The artist has promised to match the jail's £10m asking price by selling the stencil he used to paint on the Grade II-listed building in March.

New 'Banksy' artwork appears at Great Yarmouth model village | BBC News

Another piece of street art possibly created by secretive graffiti artist Banksy has appeared in East Anglia.
A new model of a miniature stable, which appears to have been signed by the artist, was found at Merrivale Model Village in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on Sunday morning.

Banksy has been busy. Or has he?

New Banksy at Calais refugee camp. The work depicts the late Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, with a black bin bag thrown over one shoulder and an original Apple computer in his hand. The work is a pointed reference to Jobs’s background as the son of a Syrian migrant who went to America after the second world war.

In a rare statement accompanying the work, Banksy said: “We’re often led to believe migration is a drain on the country’s resources but Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian migrant. Apple is the world’s most profitable company, it pays over $7bn (£4.6bn) a year in taxes – and it only exists because they allowed in a young man from Homs.”

That Banksy bit on Advertising? Actually Sean Tejaratchi of Crap Hound

But he's chill with it:

Long story short: Banksy didn't steal from me. He didn't plagiarize that quote on advertising. Ten years ago, he was careless, the opposite of sneaky. What's more, I was also careless.

...

I realize "Banksy stole the quote!" is much more dramatic and satisfying than "Banksy made a poor stylistic choice in his book layout, causing confusion years later! He attempted to inform me but had the wrong address!" The man's not an imbecile. This would have been an absurdly clumsy and doomed attempt at plagiarism. I will also say that in my recent, limited contact with Banksy, he's gone out of his way to be clear, kind, and genuine, in every way the exact opposite of a twat.
