Fake ads, real politics: the art of Foka Wolf, the ‘Birmingham Banksy’ – in pictures

Anonymous street artist Foka Wolf uses the language of advertising to highlight political and social issues, from the PPE crisis to food banks. “I grew up in a low income, single-parent household,” he says, “so I take it very fucking personally when people in power try and demonise those who are broke and voiceless.” Known as the Birmingham Banksy (“I prefer Poundland Banksy”), Wolf has fooled countless people with his fake billboards. “There’s a lot of power in putting words on paper. One poster was offering students money to grow 23 pairs of ears on their back and quite a few people were up for it.” During tough political times, does it get harder to make satire? “Easier. According to Dropbox, these "frequently consume thousands of times more storage than our genuine business customers, which risks creating an unreliable experience for all of our customers."
Companies should simply stop spreading such obvious #advertising lies. Everything has to be economical and no #company can afford unlimited. Why always lie so innocently and then when the #customer really uses the unlimitedness let loose such a drivel. Be honest and offer what you are willing to offer.

Und dann fand Lilith Wittmann zusätzlich noch raus, daß man mit Bonify die Bonitätsdaten beliebiger Personen abrufen kann, wenn man einmal angemeldet ist: Ihr habt vielleicht von #bonify gehört. Eine Tochterfirma der Schufa, die euch eure Kreditwürdigkeit anzeigt und auch Mieterauskünfte ausstellt. (Thread auf Mastodon).
Ist ja nicht so, daß ich die SCHUFA je für vertrauenswürdig hielt, aber grade schießen sie den Vogel ab.
