A week ago we had the opportunity to visit a friend of us at her art exhibition. She is such an inspiration and role model for me so I have to show her work to you.

Many years ago I first met her at a small selfmade-market we both attended. We instantly had a great connection and I am so excited how her skills and her expression in art evolved from there. She mainly does marvellous photo-realistic illustrations with coloured pencils – all softly textured, rich in details, with her own characteristic style and simply amazing!

With her approval I will upload some pics she took that evening and link you to her page. Go and get blown away! And if you are near Fürth or Nürnberg soon, don’t miss to visit the originals. They will be shown from 4th of June to 27th of July at Hirschenstraße 27/29, 90762 Fürth, Germany.

Boycott! The Art of Economic Activism

May 13th-30th #2015

Available for viewing during all open hours at Obsidian.

This exhibit features 61 posters from more than twenty boycotts throughout history including the Montgomery Bus Boycott, United Farm Workers’ grape and lettuce boycott, divestment from South Africa to protest Apartheid, boycotts of corporations using sweatshops, the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, and many others.

Boycott and divestment campaigns target companies and governments that support and sustain injustices—and posters have been a primary tool for educating about the issues and inspiring people to action. This exhibition uses powerful posters to demonstrate the effectiveness of boycotts as a nonviolent tactic to end injustice and oppression.

This exhibit was created by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and the Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG). The exhibits visit to Olympia is sponsored by the Rachel Corrie Foundation.

Frida Kahlo, Her Photos

Curated by Pablo Ortiz Monasterio

Exhibition on View at the Museum of Latin American Art / MOLAA

March 16 - June 8, 2014

Frida Kahlo, Her Photos presents over 200 images from Frida Kahlo’s personal Casa Azul archive in Mexico City. MOLAA’s featured spring exhibition includes images of Frida, by Frida and for Frida. Represented here are a wide range of photographs that shed light on a more personal side of Frida’s life, from family photographs, both traditional portraits and candid shots at the Casa Azul, to mementos of pain, love, and the artistic, intellectual and political milieu in which she lived. This selection from the Casa Azul trove also includes images by Lola and Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Man Ray, Tina Modotti, and Edward Weston among others.
