(...) [Minister Robbert Dijkgraafs] tweet leek zo uit een Paulo Coelho-citatenboek gekopieerd: „Uiten van onvrede en emoties mag, maar doe dat op zo’n manier dat het voor iedereen veilig is en veilig voelt.”

Onvrede uiten leidt als vanzelf tot ongemak. Dat is de functie ervan. Het is kwalijk dat Dijkgraaf alles op één hoop gooit; onwelgevallige meningen belanden tegenwoordig al te snel op de stapel ‘onveilig’.

Het leven is geen suikerspin, de wereld geen gewatteerde kamer waar je je niet kunt bezeren. (...)

Het is bovendien tergend hypocriet om te beweren dat iedereen zich veilig moet voelen, terwijl de politie hard inslaat op vreedzame demonstranten. (...)

De demonstranten zijn geen tuig. Ze zijn ons morele geweten dat met gevaar voor eigen lijf de straat opgaat uit betrokkenheid met mensen die al maanden blootgesteld worden aan onvoorstelbaar geweld.

Het is veelzeggend dat er meer ophef en veroordeling klinkt voor de mensen die tegen de genocide demonstreren dan tegen de voortdurende slachting. Dat is pas onveilig: leven in een land waarin woorden harder afgekeurd worden dan daden, demonstraties scheller veroordeeld dan massamoord. (...)

Anti-genocide versus pro-genocide, dat is het. Genocide-supporters kunnen zich wat mij betreft niet onveilig genoeg voelen.

Ben-Gvir feels he is the master or #Netanyahu

Ma'ariv newspaper describes the situation as: There is a new prime minister in “Israel”.

They add that in practice, Benjamin Netanyahu has become the servant of his master, Itamar #BenGvir, and this raises the obvious question: To what extent has Netanyahu deteriorated?

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir appeared in front of the cameras a few days ago while leaving the Prime Minister’s Office, acting Prime Minister, and announced in an unambiguous tone: “I warned the Prime Minister that we will not enter #Rafah, nor will there is an illegal deal.

The Prime Minister heard the words, and promised that "Israel" would enter Rafah, and promised that the war would continue, and promised that there would be no illegal deal.

These words and tone of voice leave no room for doubt in the heart of every listener. There is a new prime minister in the State of #Israel.

This raises the obvious question: To what extent has Netanyahu deteriorated? It has reached the point where even a response from a prime minister, in order to preserve his dignity, is not uttered.

Netanyahu, despite thousands of disagreements, knows what the majority of the people want: the release of detainees, and he also knows what is important and useful to the people.

But he follows Ben Gvir and Bezalel #Smotrich, because that is what is good politically for Netanyahu for obvious reasons.

They actually think they have a valid argument here.

It's just unbelievable. Remember some 30 years ago I was having a discussion with a coworker who was part of the evangelical church of "Livets Ord" in Sweden about the intifada and he was using the same argument and claiming that IDF soldiers shooting Palestinians was justified because they were defending themselves against those throwing stones at them.

And also justifying the order or Israeli PM to break the arms and legs of palestinians to prevent them from protesting as "non violent measure".

And of course after October 7, these people think the whole history of Occupation and ethnic cleansing of palestinians is nothing and the conflict started on October 7 that justifies Israeli destruction of Gaza and the ongoing Genocide.

Another asshole on mastodon who got mad about my post about German police attacking a man carrying Jews against genocide.

Supporting police brutality against those protesting against ongoing genocide while crying over lack of free speech for those denying the Holocaust is the lowest I have seen.

Extreme right and so called liberals seems to be united in their fight against Palestinian protesters (as always).

White House NSC spokesman: Israel's attack last night was limited to #Rafah

#Israel told us that the aim of this attack was to cut off #Hamas' ability to smuggle weapons and money into #Gaza.

It is like clock work, they always, always, always have excuses to justify criminal actions of Israel. By controlling the Rafah border, the lifeline of over 2 million Palestinians is completely in the hands of Israel and the few Palestinians who could leave the strait by bribing the Egyptian border guards, will no longer be able to leave the Israeli terror.
