Good journalism is hard to find these days, but is increasingly found on the more indie fringes, rather than produced by big media conglomerates.

I'm hoping they are still in the black today, but @TexasObserver is one of the few publishers that actually runs their own Mastodon instance, and has been a good citizen of the fedi, publishing several "truth to power" stories. And they've done good things since their new lease on life, justifying the support they've been given several times over.

‘Drones would come down and pick off civilians, children. This is not an occasional thing. This was day after day after day operating on children who would say, “I was lying on the ground after a bomb dropped and this quadcopter [a small, remotely-piloted helicopter drone] came down and hovered over me and shot me”.’

Prof Mamode told MPs he saw children with sniper injuries to the head. He also noted that the pellets fired by most drones were more destructive than bullets which would go straight through a victim’s body. Instead, the pellets would bounce around inside bodies, creating much more extensive damage. (...)

It is our #mistake. We should double check it. Not only double, but triple check it. One more thing I want to add is that people should not consider Google as the standard. #Google is just a search engine, and any person can post anything on it. Don't just believe it. Just cross check!

I mean, yes. But then again, NO, you massive cunt. If you can't stand up and say that voting for Nazis is a bad thing, then you are lost. Treating fascism and democracy with equal impartiality isn't "principled", it's the exact fucking opposite.
