As it turns out, your printer #manufacturer, Epson, has hard coded an “end of life” into the software that runs the inkjet printer you bought. Note: this pre-determined end of life was not a feature of the device explained to you when you purchased the printer, but it’s there all the same. It doesn’t matter that your #printer was working. Epson corporate has determined that your printer and its constituent parts are simply too old. They’re at the end of their service life (even though the printer appears to be working fine) and the device needs to be replaced or (reluctantly) serviced… by an Epson authorized #service professional, of course.

laser printers & health

  • it might be wise, to give the laser printers it’s own room (get a room)
    • living room
    • sliping room
    • dining room
  • plus a filter on the output fan vents (it’s the large one on the right-top side)
      • tested and yes, a lot of black sooth will accumulate here

In summary, HP wants its #printer to collect all kinds of #data that a reasonable person would never expect it to. This includes #metadata about your devices, as well as information about all the documents that you print, including timestamps, number of pages, and the application doing the printing (HP state that they do stop short of looking at the contents of your documents).

GNU Linux & sustainability: waste avoided & resources saved - another printer saved from trash - Brother MFC-8420 works perfectly fine with GNU Linux Debian 10

actually wanted give this printer to (still) windows user, then realizing… there is no f*** chance to install drivers within windows 10 for this elderly but just printing damn fine reliable black and white laser printer from brother, so…

fiddled a bit with the cups (reachable via browser localhost:631)

try modyfing the Connection type… then try printing those settings worked 🙂
