Amazing. I just recently read the story of that typeface being sunk there and considered it lost. The older I get, the more fascination comes from old-school printing and writing facilities and the idea of keeping information on paper, no matter how much effort it takes compared to digital means.

GNU Linux Debian 11 - How to setup Brother QL 600 LabelPrinter

it’s a two part process:

1. install the drivers

2. install the printer via cups web browser interface

http://localhost:631/

or:

https://localhost:631/

-> Administration -> Add Printer

select the driver for QL-650TD

click on “Add Printer”

stick with the default options.

3. (optional but recommended) get some templates for LibreOffice:

4. HAPPY LABELING 🙂

(print some nice sentences… and make ’em stick… e.g. to a traffic light post… )

actually wanted give this printer to (still) windows user, then realizing… there is no f*** chance to install drivers within windows 10 for this elderly but just printing damn fine reliable black and white laser printer from brother, so…

• USB 2.0 hooked it up to GNU Linux Debian 10 box
• installed cups:
  • su – root
  • apt install cups
• downloaded https://download.brother.com/welcome/dlf006893/linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.3-1.gz
  • https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc8420_us
  • (excellent script! brothers!)
• unpack it:
  • gunzip linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.3-1.gz
• mark it runnable:
  • chmod +x linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.3-1
• run it as root:
  • su – root
  • ./linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.3-1
• enter exact model like:
  • MFC-8420
  • yes…yes…yes…
• leave rest to automatic
• restart

fiddled a bit with the cups (reachable via browser localhost:631)

try modyfing the Connection type… then try printing those settings worked 🙂

Je continue dans mes essais de linogravure, un peu plus grand (A5).
J'ai encore de mal mais ça vient petit à petit, je commence aussi à être plus efficace sur l'impression, ça bave moins (même si ça manque de finesse dans le trait :/ )

Linogravure de nowel

Je prépare mes cadeaux de nowel, je me suis remis à la linogravure. Je suis partie sur une série de marque-page. Celui-là c'est pour ma grande, plutôt en accord avec son actualité.
Du coup je ferai quelques tirages en différentes couleurs (pas géniaux les tirages à la cuillère en bois...)
Je considère celle-ci comme la première des mais gravures vraiment aboutie.
