The 16th #Nakshatra: #VISHAKHA.

The four quarters are ruled by:
Mangala (Mars) - the 1st quarter,
Shukra (Venus) - the 2nd quarter,
Buddha (Mercury) - the 3rd quarter,
and Chandra (Moon) - the 4th quarter.

Other aspects of this Nakshatra:
The Purushartha (life's vector or motivation) is #Dharma.
Totem animal is #Tiger (male).
Symbols: a potter's wheel or an #archway.
Devata (Deity) - #Shakragni (#Indra and #Agni).
Dosha - #Kapha.

This is the 16th Nakshatra of the zodiac, spanning from 20°00' in Tula to 3°20' in Vrshchika. Hence its first three quarters fall in the sign Tula, while the last quarter falls in the sign Vrshchika. While the Nakshatra Vishakha is ruled by the wise planet Jupiter, Tula is ruled by #Venus and Vrshchika is ruled by #Mars. #Guru ( #Jupiter) and Mangala (Mars) is a friendly combination, while Guru (Jupiter) and Shukra (Venus) belong to the opposite camps. As a result, while the last quarter of this Nakshatra brings to fore all the bright side of Guru (Jupiter) and Mangala (Mars), people born on in the first three quarters are more interested in the material pleasures.

Vishakha born have a well-proportioned body, but they tend to be obese and put on weight with the passing of age. Females born in this Nakshatra are beautiful and religious in nature. They need to have a well balanced diet and should exercise regularly to keep them fit.

These people are god fearing and like to be guided by truth. For those born in the first three quarters of Vishakha, balance is the nature of life, as they always try to avoid extremes. This is apparent in their religious beliefs as well, with these people neither being too dogmatic nor too advanced when it comes to religion. But those born in Vrshchika are very firm in their belief, rarely changing their views. But generally, a Vishakha born is secular in his or her religious beliefs.

A well placed Chandra (Moon) and Buddha (Mercury) make these people crowd pullers. Good Buddha (Mercury) also bestows them with good oratory skills. Females born in Vishakha have a sweet tongue and quiet diplomatic in their choice of words.

These people do not like the idea of working for others. They are better suited for independent businesses. Consultancy is a good profession for them, as these people possess the required skills for the same. A Vishakha born consultant, born in the Vrshchika will rarely reveal information about his clients to others. For this reason, they are also suited for jobs that involve high levels of responsibility.

These people normally enjoy good health. They are full of vigor and enthusiasm, often working long hours continuously. Because of their addiction to certain kinds of food and the tendency to neglect their health, they may suffer sudden attacks involving the nerves system.

Male Natives

  1. Physical Features: His face will be round, bright and physical appearance extremely attractive. We have noticed two types of physical appearance i.e. one with fatty and long structure and the other with very lean and short structure.

  2. Character and general events: He will have full of vigor and vitality as also intelligence of the highest order. He is firm believer of god and leads a life of truthful existence. He does not believe in the orthodox principles not the age old tradition. He is fond of adopting modern ideas.

Mostly he lives away from his family. He is ready to give weight to others in excess of what is actually required depending on the weight of the persons to whom he is dealing in. Slavery is suicidal for him. While he is very much religiously active, he does not follow any superstitious religious fanaticism. He treats all religions, castes and creed as one. He is a follower of Gandhian philosophy of 'Ahimsa Paramodharma' (Religion is non-violence or The most preferable and auspicious Dharma is non-violence) and 'Truth is God'. In certain cases I have seen that such type of persons accept Sanyasa (saintism) when they touch 35 years of age. When we sanyasa it does not mean that complete detraction from the 'Grihastashram' (duty towards the family). He will simultaneously look after the family and follow sanyasa.

  1. Education, sources of earning/profession: He is a very good orator and has the capacity to attract crowd. He will win several prizes in elocution competition. Hence he is the fittest person to be in the political circle. There is a peculiar spending tendency in him. While on the one side he is very stingy on the spending on the other side he is extravagant in the spending where it is not required.

He is fit for doing an independent business, job involving high responsibility, banking and religious professions, mathematician or a teacher or a printer.

  1. Family life: He cannot enjoy love and affection of mother. One of the primary reasons for such lack of care may either due to mother's death or unavoidable circumstances and atmosphere which warrant his mother to be away from the native. There may be several beneficial points of his father with which he can always be proud of. Even then, not much help will be derived from his father also. In other words, we have to come to a conclusion that the native leads more or less a life of an orphan. There may be a lot of difference of opinion between his father and him on several points where an amicable settlement on any matter may not be possible. It is due to these reasons he is right from the childhood a hardworking and self made person.

He loves his wife and children very much. Even so, he has two bad qualities. One is that he is addicted to alcohol and another is that he indulges in too much sex with other ladies. In spite of these weaknesses he will not make this weaknesses as hindrance either in the family or social life.

  1. Health: Since has has inherent vigor and vitality given by the god, his health will normally be very good. However, he is prone to paralytic attack. I have in more than 70 percent of Vishakha born people noticed this paralytic attack after the age of 55 years. In the remaining 30 percent cases, I have every doubt that the native could not provide me the correct birth time as otherwise the same symptom of paralytic attack would have in one form or the other present in them. It is also seen that they are prone to asthmatic attack.

Female Natives

Females born in this Nakshatra will enjoy more or less the same results mentioned for the male natives and in addition they will enjoy the following results:

  1. Physical features: Her features extremely beautiful. This inherent godly gift of attractive physical features normally attract the men folk and she has to face lot of problems on this account.

  2. Character and general events: She has a very sweet tongue. She is expert in the household activities and if employed in the official activities also. Arrogance is very rarely noticed in these females. She does not believe in pomp and show and she is very simple. She does not like to increase her beauty by make up. She is subject to jealousy of other female friends and relatives. She is a firm believer of religious principles and quite often observe fast and perform poojas and visit holy places frequently.

  3. Education, sources of earning/profession: She is interested in poetry. If there are other good planetary combinations, particularly when Moon and Venus are together, she may become a famous writer. She will have academic excellence in arts or literature.

  4. Family life: She treats her husband as her god. Her religious attitude will confer love and affection from her in-laws. As she looks after the welfare of all family members and even distant relations, she will have power and authority conferred on her. She will have more attachment to her father-in-law. She may frequently be visiting sacred places.

  5. Health: She will generally have good health. However, she is prone to kidney trouble, goiter and weakness due to homo-sexuality.

#Vishakha #Nakshatra is the 16th Nakshatra as per Hindu #astrology in Librae #constellation.

Vishakha is ruled by #Indra and #Agni, who represent the powers of heat and lightning in the atmosphere.

#Indrāṇī is considered, “Queen of the Gods.” Among the Navagraha, she is associated with Śūkra (Venus) as his overruler. She is the consort of Indra and daughter of the Asura.

She is called the goddess of anger, wrath, and jealousy. She is also named Sachi/Shachi (Śakti), as well as Aindri, Vajri, Mahendri, Pulomaja, and Poulomi. A hymn in the #Rigveda describes her jealousy of rivals. Being the goddess of jealousy, she is believed to help in destroying jealousy.

According to ancient Vedas, she was a female shadow of Indra, but other Vedic literature suggests that she actually developed the idea of Śakti (what a fantastic “shadow”) and became the role model for all Devi in the later period. Unlike most other devi, Shachi/Indrāṇī is an independent force. In fact, rather than Indrāṇī being named after Indra, it’s Indra who was named after Indrāṇī.

Indrāṇī rides/is associated with lions and elephants and, like Indra, rides a charging white elephant. She is the essence of beauty and was referred to as “The Endless Beauty” in Hindu epics and very beautiful in the Rigveda, with exceptionally beautiful eyes (one thousand of them). According to the Taittiriya Brahman, Indra desires Indrāṇī as his wife above all others [simply] because of her captivating, voluptuous features. She’s dark-skinned, with two, four, or six arms and is armed with the Vajra (thunderbolt), goad, noose and lotus stalk. Adorned with variety of ornaments, she wears the kiriṭa mukuṭa.

Indrāṇī’s consort, Indra, killed her own father, Puloman, as he was an Asura. Indrāṇī and Indra were parents to Jayanta, Jayanti, Midhusa, Nilambara, Rbhus, Rsabha, and Chitragupta.

The living dead patterns that are etched in the echoes of Karmic resonance sometimes require death.

Rebirth holds the hand of Death!

#Vishakha is a profound agent for bringing #healing change.

Vishaka Nakshatra indeed offers this, but at the same time, asks us to carefully and honestly look at the patterns we are repeating a d the things we are joining together.

The outer resonance of our lives events start as a sound in our psychic world and then becomes the medley which rules the rhythm of our being.

This coming Moon brings with it the blessing.

A blessed time for looking at inner beliefs and programs that keep a living death in place of rebirth.

The blessing and the curse ride together, both are looked at in the Tantric perspective, for the poison is part of the medicine.

Drinking the medicine without honouring and acknowledging the power of poison is tantamount to blindness.

The gods who dwell on the star constellation of Vishaka are thirsty indeed. They are full of the wish for Soma and the experience of fulfilling desire.

Desire is sacred if it is channeled, but desire can lead to ruin if it is unfocussed.

Yogic practices could actually be defied as the art of channeling desire.

Desire might have been bastardized as the culprit for leading us into delusions.. and that might be the case. But the suppression of desire and the attempt to kill it leads to war. Desire comes from the goddess, it is too powerful-a-force to kill.

Acknowledging the sacredness of desire is the lesson of Vishaka Nakshatra.

Focused desire is Tantra and Tantra is focused desire.

The Karmic Mirror

It is not easy to see reality when we ourselves are reflected in the mirror of distorted desire in which we watch the world. To turn around and break the curse of the mirror, and see a reality without our Karmic visions and smears… is a task most Tantric.

Tantra is a most practical subject that can help resolve the Karmic footprints that we might be stepping into.

Sometimes we find we are stepping back into painful cycles that we thought we had long since outgrown. We sometimes find ourselves back in inner situations we thought were long past.

Maybe we thought we would never indulge them back to life again, but insidiously, like unseen shadows, erecting themselves back to life, they might have come upon us.

Such experiences indeed may feel like times to lament, but equally they are times of celebration.

If one can acknowledge the psychic knots that have bound us back to the footprints of old Karma, then healing happens.

Vishaka is Shakti, the divine feminine power principle.

Shakti who is the very energy of life is able to ‘shock us awake’ from the most stagnant, comfortable and familiar Karmic dreams.

This ‘Shakti shock’ is the healing jolt of transformation.

It may be painful and unwanted to wake up with a shock from the poison of past pacts.

But more slowly painful it be to be dictated to by the reflections of unresolved Karma.

Vishaka heralds in a time for healing practices of forgiving self, forgiving other, and the one that we are together.

May there be success in the healing pursuit!

Like a dentist who takes out the rotten tooth with a painful jolt,

sometimes it must be so.

May the Mother that is Shakti, hold our trembling hand in such instances.

The only teaching in Tantra is to ‘Have courage’

May the profound agent of change who goes by the name of Vishaka

bring us to the cave where we may receive the electric Shakti Shock, right into our dead Karmic dreams, so we may wake alive in Love.

Arching desire

Another name for this star constellation is Radha- Radha is the spacious beauty of Tantric lore. This is a sister constellation of the following Constellation of Anuradha.

Anuradha literally means that which follows Radha.

Vishaka Shares the symbol of an archway with Anuradha.

The archway is very significant in understanding the energy of Vishaka Nakshatra.

Let us ask ourselves:

What is an archway?

Is it not an attempt between two lovers to join?

How many archways have fallen in our lives?

#Radha is the great Ghori. Ghori implies the bright, clear and spacious Moon woman.

She is the lover of Krishna.

Krishna is the dark night sky which nothing can penetrate. Only Radha can meet the darkness of the night sky of Krishna with her Moonlit rays of love.

Krishna is the dark night sky and Radha is the bright Moon. The old tales tell of Krishna asking his mother ‘Radha kyu gori mai kyu kala,

It means ‘why am I black and Radha so bright’. This encapsulates the deep meaning of their opposites and births. Though these words come from the sacred wisdom of Yogic lore, they were put into a very beautiful song in the 1978 movie entitled Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Here is a link to the song

Vishaka is the only Nakshatra that has both an exulted planet and a debilitated planet. The black planet Saturn is exulted, and the silver Moon is debilitated in Vishaka Nakshatra. Clearly the extremes at play again.

The silver Radha’s nights and days are spent in the longing for union with the dark black mystery of Krishna. She is Half of arch that longs for the other half.

Two halves make an arch for which Love can walk on through.

We also see that arches are prominent features in rites of passage. The wedding arch is a most poignant example.

Radha is a word that also signifies the soul.

The soul carries the impulse of unification!

In considering this potent phrase, we are brought to look at the colour of the soul.

We might have inherited the notion that the soul is a dead thing, something pure, exulted, detached and unfeeling like a cold dead corpse.

Take a moment to consider and ponder upon What the soul is ?

Ponder upon what your notion of the soul is?

Our notion of soul will determine our whole approach to spirituality and Yogic practice.

If our notion of the soul is something that is cold, aloof and detached, then union, magic and fascination will be replaced by depression and resignation.

Vishaka Nakshatra is an #energy of #Unification.

Rain & Fire

When we look at the ruling deity that lives on this constellation then we get an idea of its meaning in terms of unification.

#Indragni is the god of this #constellation. Indragni is a mysterious and little known deity, even scriptural references are scarce and rare. Much speculation from astrologers both modern and ancient has ensued as a result of so little availible info.

Indagni is the fusion of #Indra the god of storm and Rain, and #Agni the god of fire.

The fusion of these two deities and principles becomes clear when we look at the notion of the archway that is the joining of two halves to create a structure.

The idea of fusion is also apparent when we consider the tree that is assigned to Vishaka Nakshatra.

#Nagkesaar is the tree that is connected to Vishnu Nakshatra. In Yogic medicine this tree is used as a remedy for treating conditions of fire and water imbalance.

Now. We can clearly see that this Nakshatra is the union of the opposites of these two elements.

Agni is the god of fire and fire feeds of air. Indra is the storm god of rain and rain feeds the earth.

When Agni and Indra are balanced in our system then we have the marriage of the four basic elements, from this marriage then, the 5th element which is called Akash starts to awaken us to the subtle world.

What is the balance of Agni and Indra exactly?

Fire ( Agni) rises and feeds upon air. This is desire, hope, reaching.

Water (Indra) descends and sinks into earth and nourishes it.

Fire is action and enthusiasm – this is Rajas.

Water descends and Sinks – this is Tamas.

The balance of Fire and Water creates Satva, the ekement that bridges the two worlds of Fire and Water.

When we are caught between the dance of hope and resignation, then we are unbalanced between the swing of opposites. In such a state of swing, there is no subtlety, in such a state Akash is diminished.

Akash is the subtle etheric spiritual element. hope and resignation are the two poles of drama that consume the subtle element of Akash.

If we have a balance between fire and water, then we develop a relation to air and earth. from which ensues birth of Akash.

Akash is the opening of the psychic door to the spirit world.

Akash opens the vision to that which lives beneath the surface layers of reality.

The #Tiger

The animal of Vishaka Nakshatra is the Tiger. The Tiger skin is the Yogic blanket of Shiva. The Goddess Durga who is the Mother of everything, rides on the Tiger, Rahu rides on the Tiger and the list of Yogic references to the Tiger could go on.

The Tiger is a creature of elemental wisdom. In the Tiger we see the mastery of the elements. Like fire that creeps slowly and steadily towards its prey, the Tiger contains the fiery power and just like fire, it can snap into immediate action in a millisecond and envelop its prey.

The Tiger is profoundly fond of earthly rest and spends more than half its time in deep rest and sinking . A Tiger has the power of air and can project a roar that can be heard for many miles. The Tiger is a powerful swimmer and has command of water, being able to swim for miles at a time.

The balance and mastery of all these 4 elements, makes the Tiger the creature of the most subtle 5th element of #Akash.

Since time immemorial, Yogis have lived in jungles and learned from Tigers which can transport the secrets of the etheric Akash element as no other creature on earth.

#Vishakha #Nakshatra is the 16th of 27 #nakshatras. If you were born when the moon was between 20:00 degrees Libra-3:20 degrees #Scorpio
#Sanskrit Name: विशाखा (Vishakha) comes from the Sanskrit words वि (divided) and शाखा (branch). One meaning of Vishakha is “the #branched one,” indicating intelligence, vitality, and many talents.

Planetary Ruler: #Jupiter. In #Vedic theology, Jupiter is considered to be the advisor and guru of the gods and is known as #Brhaspati. Jupiter is associated with wisdom, virtue, and spirituality.

Nakshatra Group: Monstrous. Nakshatras are divided into three classes — monsters, humans, and gods. Vishakha is a monstrous nakshatra. People in this group are generally intuitive, strong-willed, and assertive. They may be prone to anger and violence.

Zodiac Sign: Libra (1st-3rd quarters) and Scorpio (4th quarter). Libra natives possess excellent taste and good judgement. They are friendly, learned, and dignified, but may be prone to arrogance. Scorpios are intense, reclusive, and bursting with energy.

Deity: #Indra. In Vedic theology, Indra is the lord of svarga, the heavenly realm, and the chief among the demigods. He presides over rain and weather.

Symbol: Potter’s wheel. This represents karma, creativity, patience, and the creative potential.

Power: To spread or pervade. Persons born under the star of Vishakha have a wide sphere of influence. For this reason, they do well in social and political arenas.

Resonant Syllables: In India, the birth nakshatra is traditionally used as one means of choosing the name of a child. The corresponding syllables for the four quarters ( #padas) of Vishakha are Tee (ती), Tu (तू), Tay (ते), and Toe (तो). The syllable of a person’s first name is sometimes used when calculating an astrological chart if the time of birth is unknown.

Strengths
Vishakha natives are charming and kind individuals. Due to their warm and altruistic personality, they can easily make friends with others. Their diversity of personal interests also helps them to form friendships with a wide variety of people. Thus they have no issue maintaining an active and vibrant social life.

Those born under the star of Vishakha are wise for their age. They have a natural insight into the workings of the world and of human nature. They are truthful and devout, and are naturally-inclined toward spirituality. They bring energy and enthusiasm to whatever tasks they undertake.

You are driven, bright, and outgoing. You enjoy a fresh challenge, and you know how to make the most of trying circumstances. You are an attractive and inspired person.

Vishakha Careers
Persons born in Vishakha can excel in a variety of careers, particularly anything having to do with speaking, or speech pathology.

Some ideal professions include:

Astrologer, psychic, or psychotherapist
Researcher or scientist
Any career in radio, TV or film
Priest, preacher, or chaplain
Speech pathologist
Weaknesses
Vishakhas are extreme and passionate individuals. While this can be a strength, they often go overboard, showing intense enthusiasm for a particular project or cause for a short time before they give it up and move on to the next crusade. This can cause personal frustration, and others may perceive them to be inconsistent or unreliable.

Persons born in Vishakha may be too talkative, prying into others affairs, gossiping, and so on. Though they are compassionate deep down, they do not always understand personal boundaries or the meaning of privacy. This can cause them to lose friends and the favor of their peers, if they cannot control their tendency to be a busybody.

You may be stingy with others and envious of the success of your peers. Others may perceive you as greedy, scheming, and manipulative. By regularly going out of your way to help others, even those who are not in your inner circle, you can maintain a humble and friendly disposition.

You have many diverse interests. Many different activities, hobbies, and topics of knowledge attract you. However you may find some of these interests to compete with one another, and you will have to ultimately choose how you wish to spend your time, being unable to dedicate yourself to everything that interests you.

The yoni animal of Vishakha Nakshatra is the male tiger. The tiger hunts around 3:30-4:00 am when it’s completely quiet, and certain animals are just starting to wake up.
A Vishakha native will always wake up around this time or at least become aware that they were asleep, and now they are up. Some may not do anything specific, while some may love to have midnight snacks.
Tigers also hunt at night due to their retinal adaptation to darkness; they can see extremely clearly in the dark, so a tiger or tigress can see quite well in the dark.
Vishakha Nakshatra natives can easily adapt to darkness much quicker and faster than others, especially when luminaries like Sun or Moon are in this Nakshatra.
A tiger is an extremely careful animal who is quiet when hunting, and you wouldn’t know what hit you.
He would suddenly launch at you with an attack.
Vishakha natives are also very quiet, but when they are pushed constantly, they will suddenly lunge and attack you, and they don’t just attack to show, but to cause some harm, so you know next time not to provoke them.
A tiger has bangle patches all around its body, which discourages predators and shows that they are present and not to be messed with.
The symbolism of Vishakha Nakshatra is a triumphal arch, potter’s wheel. When a triumphal arch is looked at, the “arch” can be noticed, which is very important in the life of a Vishakha native.
The symbol of an arch is connected with pillars and is considered a place of regal royal statuses like government buildings, palaces, and luxury hotels.
This symbolism represents the return of warriors from a winning battlefield.
In olden days, when a champion or solider came back from winning the battle, they were ceremonially greeted under a triumphant gate.
Whenever a Vishaka native enters a home or a workplace with an arch or pillars, they achieve quick success but suddenly also lose interest in either professional or personal life, depending upon which gates the arch represents.
The other symbolism of Vishakha is the potter’s wheel. There is also a type of wheel that is used in directing ships and yachts, which can also be symbolized by this wheel.
The potter’s wheel shows the creative and artistic side of Vishakha natives. They know how to sculpt something from nothing and how to get a business or venture from thin air.
The wheel goes around, and the pottery is created in the middle. Vishakha natives think the world revolves around them, and they become too self-centered and egotistical.
The pottery wheel is also in a shape of a galaxy on the finger of Vishnu and Krishna, and this again signifies that Vishakha natives think they run and rule the world.
The wheel also represents what goes around, comes around. Vishaka natives are more susceptible in getting quick back karma based on their actions.
Vishakha Nakshatra is the only Nakshatra with two different deities, with each of them having their own individual Nakshatras.
The deities are Indra, who presides over Jyeshtha Nakshatra, and Agni, who rules Krittika Nakshatra. Indra is the king of the Gods, who is the champion, and is seen as the one enjoying all the luxuries, drinking soma, & gambling.
He is the king of Gods, yet he is the most insecure, as he is not willing to let go of his throne and ends up acting out of his insecurities.
Agni is the God of fire who, along with Indra, drinks soma. Agni transfers the offerings from the men to the Gods and back. He is present in all the fire rituals, especially yagnas & havans done by the men to fulfil their desires.
The story goes that Agni was filled with great hunger and needed to burn down the Khandava forest to quench his hunger. However, Takshaka, the serpent king, lived in the forest and was a friend of Indra.
Hence, Indra would bring down rains to prevent Agni from consuming the forest.
