In #1969, at the #Siberian #village of #Rzhavchik in the Soviet Union, a remarkable event unfolded. Deep beneath the surface, a miner named Ivan Karnaukhov discovered an 800 million-year-old #sarcophagus with a #woman inside.

The beauty lying in the sarcophagus soon became known as the Tisul Princess, with Tisul being the name of the district where the Rzhavchik village was located. Eventually, the high-ranking Soviet officials from the district arrived. Accompanying them were KGB agents.

Just six months after the KGB confiscated the sarcophagus, a wave of misfortune swept over the village of Rzhavchik. Tragedy struck relentlessly, beginning with Ivan Karnaukhov, the man who discovered the sarcophagus of the Tissul Princess. His life was cut short in a harrowing accident.

A month after his death, a miner met his demise by drowning. The sole survivor of these ominous events was geologist Vladimir Podreshetnikov, who revealed that the discovery of the Tisul princess was not the only one of its kind. Valery Malevanny, a retired KGB agent, stated that in #1973, additional sarcophagi were uncovered. These #sarcophagi were transported to #Moscow and were estimated to be around 200 million-year-old.

#Grèce : démonstration de force pour célébrer la révolte de 1973

Le 17 novembre 1973 en Grèce est une journée très importante : c’est le soulèvement de l’École polytechnique d’Athènes contre la dictature militaire. Un régime d’extrême droite soutenu par les États-Unis. Les colonels envoient des chars face aux étudiants, qui occupent leur université.

Cette révolte et la répression qui fit 24 morts sont les symboles de la chute du régime militaire, qui prend fin en 1974. C’est un tournant dans l’histoire grecque, et le 17 novembre est désormais un jour férié dans le pays, afin de commémorer les droits civils et politiques.

Ce 17 novembre 2023, 50 ans exactement après le soulèvement de polytechnique, d’énormes manifestations anti-impérialistes ont eu lieu à Athènes et Thessalonique. Beaucoup de drapeaux rouges mais aussi des drapeaux palestiniens étaient déployés en tête de cortège, alors que les drapeaux des États-Unis et de l’OTAN ont été brûlés.

Quelques affrontements avec la police ont eu lieu en fin de soirée.

Linux like original Unix

This is far more interesting than I thought.

It is 50 years ago that Unix as we know it came out (i.e. not the very first one).
So the Freedos channel tried to work as one would have worked 50 years ago.
After showing the man pages and commands from the various versions of unix, the vid get interesting.

Using a vt100 or 200 emulator, he uses the ed line editor to write a fortran60 program and documentation in nroff, a mark up language.

I like using ed because it keeps you quite focussed - as you'll see you're usually only working within the scope of a paragraph, but you can still make global changes - it is really as easy as he shows.

Ed is the predecessor of vi, vim etc.

On my system I have only the problem of using the left arrow key and rolling back and forwards with the up and down arrow keys. This is fixed by calling ed with rlwrap thus:

rlwrap ed filename

What interested me was nroff - it's the markup with which man pages are written, and as you can see in the video, is used for any documentation/publishing.
