Ukraine destroys missile launchers, radar stations at Russian military airfield in Crimea

Ukraine's military intelligence on April 18 said that Ukrainian forces had destroyed four #S-400 launchers, three radar stations, a command post for #AirDefense operations, and air space #surveillance equipment #Fundament-M in the attack.

The total number of Russian military equipment, aircraft, and military personnel losses is still being determined, Ukraine's military intelligence said in its statement.

The Trypillia Thermal Power Plant was completely destroyed in a Russian attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure on April 11, leading to the total loss of #Centrenergo's generating capacity.

The Russian strike led to a large-scale fire in the turbine house of the plant. All of the plant's workers who were on the shift during the attack survived.

"We can restore everything," Hota said, but this will require the help of international partners, as equipment like turbines or transformers come from European countries.

"But without a sufficient number of missiles for anti-aircraft defense, it will, to put it mildly, be a futile affair," Hota added.

Iranian military sources reporting that Iranian military and IRGC have deployed several Nour (renamed from Khordad-15) with ComandCintril 2031-1 domestic designed and produced air defense system each capable of carry 10 SAMs and launch 8 simultaneously against 4 targets.

This is the first large scale use of the Iranian copy of Russian S-200 air defense system with an upgraded electronic command center and anti jam radar units (IRGC claims).

The units are all parts of the largest military exercise planned to be happening tomorrow or the next day.

Russian air defense sufficient on front lines, in Crimea but not on Russian soil

"Russian air defense is thinning out. They filled the front line and Crimea with it (air defense). But you see that the Russian territory is not so filled with air defense equipment," Ihnat told Focus's journalist.

"One of these systems was successfully used for the first time last night. We shot down a kamikaze drone from a distance of nine kilometers," Kamyshin said.

As further military aid packages for Ukraine remain stalled in Congress, the joint project, which combines old Soviet-era surface-to-air missile systems with new U.S.-made missiles and radars, has been a way for Ukraine to continue its fight against Russia in the meantime.

The AP earlier reported that U.S. engineers have been able to work with Ukraine to modify its numerous Soviet-era Buk air defense launchers to fire RIM-7 missiles, of which the U.S. has large stockpiles.

According to Kamyshin, five projects have been developed under the FrankenSAM concept. All the systems have already been deployed on the battlefield.

A Russian A-50 AWACS aircraft crashed between the Sea of Azov and Berdyansk (Zaporizhzhia region). Russia claims it was shot by Russian air defense by mistake but Ukraine claims responsibility for it.

If it was a case of Ukrainian fire, then at a distance of around 180 km S-200, S-300 (with Russian missiles) or MIM-104 Patriot with PAC-2 would be possible. However, all of these systems would then have to be located very close to the front - which would be risky.

Russia only has up to 8 of these €300 million aircraft, which are used to coordinate air combat, missile attacks and the suppression of Ukrainian air defenses. A video is supposed to show the last flight of this machine.

Ukraine has developed and is now testing its own medium-range air defense systems, Verkhovna Rada official Yehor Cherniev said during a televised broadcast on July 22.

2 days ago Russians claimed that they had destroyed 2 more American Patriot missile systems in Kiev, which Ukraine forces denied as propaganda.

This morning the Russian friendly Telegram channel posted 2 surveillance videos from a location marked as Kiev on the videos showing when multiple surface to air missiles were launched from 2 places and moments later, one was hit by a missile causing it to explode, followed by multiple rocket explosions to different parts of the city.

There is no way of authenticating the videos but if they are not fake, this is the first proof of Russian use of cheap Geran 2 drones to activate and locate air defense systems before taking them out with Radar detecting long distance missiles. And also the first visual proof of destruction of an air defense system by the Russian forces in Kiev.

So far, Russia has claimed that they have destroyed 4 Patriot air defense systems in Kiev something that western and Ukraine sources have denied, except one article admitting that "one Patriot system was damaged" during a previous Russian attack.
