Streamyfin is an open source mobile app for Jellyfin with some extra features

Smartphone showing a movie summary on the screen for The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring with date 2001.
This is designed to work with an existing Jellyfin server, so you should be able to even install and use this alongside any existing Jellyfin mobile apps you have installed.

It lists the following additional features:
🚀 Skip intro / credits support
đź–Ľ Trickplay images: The new golden standard for chapter previews when seeking.
đź“ş Picture in Picture (iPhone only): Watch movies in PiP mode on your iPhone.
🔊 Background audio: Stream music in the background, even when locking the phone.
đź“Ą Download media (Experimental): Save your media locally and watch it offline.
📡 Chromecast (Experimental): Cast your media to any Chromecast-enabled device.

It has been updated as recently as a week ago, so looks actively maintained by 10 different contributors. It is available for iOS and Android.

California’s new law forces digital stores to admit you’re just licensing content, not buying it

"California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law (AB 2426) to combat “disappearing” purchases of digital games, movies, music, and ebooks. The legislation will force digital storefronts to tell customers they’re just getting a license to use the digital media, rather than suggesting they actually own it."

You can Turn a Raspberry Pi into a Bluetooth Smart Speaker to Stream music via Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay

The author mentions using a Balena Cloud account but I see there is also an openBalena option which is open source.

From Balena’s website: “With openBalena, we want to give developers the ability to manage fleets of devices on their own. One of our primary motivations in releasing openBalena is to mitigate fears of lock-in and remove barriers to exit (and entry!). We also hope to encourage contributions to the codebase so that users can fix issues and add features themselves. We will continue evolving openBalena in lockstep with balenaCloud, with much of our development process taking place in the open, so that together we can keep improving both the open source project and the hosted service.”

So, it is probably worth trying this out with openBalena, actually.
