#Egypt and #Mauritania have invoked United Nations General Assembly Resolution 377, which described Israel as an occupying power, displacing 1.9 million people, and the sheer amount of breaches of international and humanitarian law.
Res.377 is invoked if the Security Council lacks unity between its 5 permanent members, and thus, the issue is taken from the hands of the SC to the hands of the General Assembly, where there is no veto power
While this decision is non-binding, it is of great importance.
1) It will show simply how much the world is against Israel, when you compare the numbers of those who vote against Israel with those who vote for.
2) It can legitimize armed action by #UN member nations, as was done in #Korea in the 1950s when it was first introduced, thus, the deployment of military force can be legitimized when the GA votes for this in majority.

List of the countries and how the voted on the UN resolution calls for an "immediate, permanent and sustainable humanitarian ceasefire" that would lead to "an end to the war" in the Gaza Strip.
120 countries were in favor, 45 countries abstained, 14 were against: Israel, USA, Austria, Greece, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Paraguay, Guatemala, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Tonga.
MOST European countries, except Belgium, France, Ireland , Bosnia Herzegovina, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Russia abstained.
Iraq strangely abstained from voting.
Votes on the US resolution:
🟢In favor: United States, United Kingdom, Ecuador, Ghana, Malta, Albania, Gabon, France, Switzerland and Japan.
🔴Against: Russia, China and the United Arab Emirates.
🟡Abstentions: Brazil and Mozambique.
