Estonian authorities refused to let a woman back into the country, despite having lived there for 40 years, after she left for a few days to visit her friend in hospital in St. Petersburg.
Zoya Palyamar has lived in Estonia since 1983, but she was never granted citizenship. She had only the so-called gray passport of a non-citizen. On Thursday she took a regular bus to St. Petersburg, but after crossing the border she reportedly received an SMS notification that she had been deprived of her residence permit in Estonia.
In Tallinn, she left all her property, as well as her daughter and two grandchildren - all citizens of Estonia.
The problem, as Maxwell sees it, is that DeSantis simply doesn't know how to handle improving his national profile in a way that doesn't involve nonstop culture warring that will grow off-putting to non-Republican voters.
