My Diaspora blocks by pod

Note that this misses a key datapoint: pod size.

Both Joindiaspora and Pluspora have thousands of members, high block counts are expected.

Smaller pods, say, diasp.org, share.naturalnews.com, framasphere.org, diaspora-fr.org, and diasp.eu, not so much.

I am trying to find reliable numbers on how much work in terms of social media moderation is needed if a network becomes at least sort-of-mainstream. If this article is to be believed, you can expect 10 to 20% of all submitted content to be in need of removal.

That seems insane at first glance, but I guess that spammers do deal in volume.

Plussers and other newcomers: Privacy settings are different here

There's a post in my stream from someone who was badly surprised to discover a blocked user still had access to their posts. This is understandably very upsetting.

And much of this doesn't work either as you're used to, as you think it does, or as you would want it to.

I don't fully understand it myself yet, so I cannot give you much clarity.

  • Diaspora / Federated blocking is at best limited.

  • Blocking is very limited in scope. I think (though don't promise) it mostly affects Notifications. Don't quote me on this.

  • Public means public. If you're posting publicly, anyone in the world can see what you're posting. Including those you may not wish to see things. Or reshare them, or comment on them.

  • If you have concerns about public posting, post to limited aspects only. And read the documentation (left panel of the "My Activity" page, in Diaspora / Pluspora). There's Help, a Wiki, and a support forum.

You might be able to give me a few tips afterward, I'm learning too.
