#bumblebee

I was staring at the #garden when having dinner just now and saw what looked like a dark motionless blob hanging below some #Allium #Florets. When I got closer I found it was this #bumblebee which was suspended from its hind legs only. I think it may be dead although I've know #bees to fall asleep on these plants before. But if it is dead, wouldn't it have fallen off? I don't know. If it's still there in the morning, I will presume it has expired. If not, it's sleeping in a funky way.

The plants in the #garden, in association with altruistic #insects, are doing rather well. The #Tomatoes, which are in reality about 2 cm in diameter, are at various stages of ripeness.

Here's a group of yet #green ones on a single #stalk.

And here's a close up of another bunch.

Cropping the above image, you can really see some fine detail including fine hairs and yellow dust-like particles on both the #fruit and the stalk.

There are a few #red tomatoes and here's a few amongst verdant surroundings.

Here, I actually like the texture of the background piece of #wood in contrast with the foreground living #plant,

Switching to another plant, I managed to capture the image of this #Bumblebee. They spend only moments on each #RunnerBean #flower before moving onto the next one and so it's difficult to get a decent #photograph of them in action.

Here you can see little runner beans developing. Typically, they will eventually become 20-30+ cm in length in #autumn.

A stroll through the #garden at lunchtime. It's a bright, sunny day here today with very good light conditions and so I just wandered around to see what was of interest to #photograph.

In a pale which is used to store #water for watering #plants, you can see what look like #mosquitoes skating on the surface of the water using #SurfaceTension to keep them on top. No doubt, the females will be laying #eggs. You can see #ripples in the water and reflections of the plants around as well as a few #RosePetals which have fallen into the pale.

The #blackberry plants are flowering. Here are some #white #flowers.

And others are #lilac.

The #RunnerBeans plants are currently less than a metre tall but will grow to close to 3 m in height. However, they're already flowering.

Finally, here's the obligatory #Bumblebee on #Allium #florets but you can see another guest at this hotel, which seems to be a small wasp.

I like the bumblebee so much that here she is again in a cropped version of the above image at full resolution.

The total harvest of #RunnerBeans this year is going to be something like 30 kg.

Here is part of today's batch.

Among them, was a whopper which was over 35 cm in length.
Extra long runner beans

Talking of whoppers, a huge #BumbleBee happened to fly past while I had my camera in my hand. Luckily, I managed to #photograph it but you don't get a sense of how big this beautiful specimen was. It was about the size of a golf ball!
