#tomatoes

I have cut back my purchase of bananas because they are not local and most brands are from questionable companies.

Went to our local shop and found a huge pack of "old bananas" at discount price. So I purchased them.

This gave me the opportunity to create banana juice for my plants. Cut the peels into small pieces, added water and let it sit for w days.

Going to use the water as #potassium boost for my plants and crush the peels in a high speed mixer with coffee grounds, egg shells and a small amount of baking soda to adjust the pH level to create my speed #compost mix.

It will go into the bottom of the container I'm preparing for a friend with cherry tomatoes. Hopefully she will be able to grow them as tall as I managed (3M+) and get a lot of #tomatoes from it.

Just read a post on Facebook and a guy was so excited to have bought a Tiny Tim tomato plant half the size of the one in the picture for $29.

I usually grow between 20-40 of them each season. giving away a lot of them, maybe I should start selling them :)

It is amazing that I bought my first one in a discount section of a shop for 15 euro, it was the most expensive plant I have ever bought and I fell in love with it and been growing 100s of them since then.

Nothing is more rewarding for a hobby gardener than getting surprise seedlings that happened to grow from a dropped tomato plant.

Saw it last week and let them grow a bit till today.

Picked them up and gently separated them and now I have lots of cherry tomato seedlings to replant and grow them a bit more so either giving them away or selling them.

Replanted a few cherry tomatoes from IKEA Växer Hydroponic to soil in a pot to keep them outside on the balcony.

They were getting too big for the little Växer reservoir and my DIY shelfeso I thought giving them a try on the outside and see how they do.

The pots were given to me by the nice lady who gave me the 2 balcony planters and they were sitting there for a few months. Filled it with some old soil plus compost and top it off with some mixed pot soil I had saved since summer.

Have to cover the soil to prevent the pigeons to destroy them like they did with other pots and hope I will start getting some juicy #tomatoes from them soon.

It's so exciting to have tomatoes growing in December.

I wasn't sure if these tomatoes would survive the winter and it's the first time I'm growing them in #Kratky Hydroponic outside. But they not only grew well, they are blooming and giving me cocktail tomatoes almost every day.

Added some support for them to stand up so they get more sunshine and hopefully it will help them grow even more.

The one plant has more #tomatoes than leaves. It's so exciting.

Tonight's harvest from the balcony and indoor hydroponic

Went out to clean up the balcony and found that the yellow cherry tomato plant from last year is still full of flowers and had a lot of #tomatoes on the branches and some on the ground.

Picked a few #peppers from the indoor hydroponic as well because it's time to trim it a bit because it's getting too big for the little space I have.

I will see if I can propagate the plant and make a few extra plants out of it.

Look what was hiding in the corner of my balcony.

One of the 3 hydroponic Kratky tomatoes I started a few months ago is doing really well and I missed the blooming period and was surprised to see the tomatoes growing in the back.

Not expecting much, I just did it because I gate seeing the balcony empty in the winter. I guess tomatoes like the climate of South of France more than I expected.
