At lunchtime, there was plenty of #sunshine and #birds were visiting the #garden in steady waves.
#Sparrows and other smaller birds use the #BirdFeeder, sometimes occupying several of the perches simultaneously. But this one was solitary.
#Pigeons feed off the ground and are often seen at the base of the bird feeder. However, this one was walking along the garden #fence.
Finally, here are the same #roses I photographed a few days ago except that this time they are in direct #sunlight rather than under grey skies.

There is a great disturbance in the Force.
No, I'll start again. The #atmosphere is quite #turbulent at present and that means #wind and sharp #showers now and then. It does make for rather dramatic #cloud formations.
Looking at a reasonably steep angle, you can see some #Altocumulus #Clouds building up.
Looking more towards the #horizon, the extent of the clouds is evident.

As it's the eve of the #SummerSolstice here, and everywhere else in this #hemisphere, the #Sun will set at virtually its most #northerly bearing on the #western #horizon. I waited for the #Sun actually to disappear and leave its glowing halo.

From the vantage point of my house, I can see a couple of #TelecommunicationTowers on the #horizon, meaning they are many kilometres away. Here, I've made use of my #TelephotoLens to get quite a good detailed #photograph of the taller #tower in the #evening #twilight.

More #DramaInTheClouds. The #picture changes minute by minute and I think these #photographs show the interaction of #AirPressure, #Moisture and #Light.
First, a #panorama, looking #west.
Next, zooming in to see layered #clouds in #greys and #PaleGolds. You can see the cellular structure of the clouds.
Finally, here's the interplay between #foreground #silhouetted #roofs and #background clouds on the #horizon.

I was glancing out of the window a few minutes ago and saw a rather unusual set of #colours during the #sunset. The #sky was looking decidedly #brown rather than the more usual yellow or golden. I read in the news somewhere that we're currently experiencing airborne #sand and #dust from #Saharan #Africa and I'm wondering if that's what this is.

Nearing #Sunset after a day with broken #clouds and you can see speckled nature of the #sky. In this wider-angle #photograph you can see the nature of the distribution of #colours.
#Zooming in to the #Sun itself as it emerges from behind a cloud makes for an interesting shot of #orange #hues. You can also see the #silhouettes of #trees and a telecommunication tower.

I've done a couple of #AnimatedGifs of #sunsets before and the conditions seemed right today. The program I used was the #Unix commands #convert and #gifsicle to reduce the image size which produces no #aliasing artefacts that you can get with something like #Gimp. Still, you can see how the #Sun sets at an oblique angle at this #latitude.

The same #sunset (seconds apart) but with different framing can change the mood from humdrum to maybe a little sinister.
The first one features a bit of blue sky away from the setting #Sun on a relatively clear night with only a few clouds.
Add in the silhouettes of a few modern dinosaurs (I mean birds) photobombing the photograph and it's suddenly more dramatic. Or not, depending on your tastes.

Lastly, there was a #museum in the park all about #rural life during the 19th century, including aspects of #agriculture but also other things such as how people entertained themselves.
Here are a couple of #Steam #Traction #Engines. The light wasn't very good in there and so the photograph is a bit fuzzy.

Back to #plants again.
There are #trees from many parts of the world too. Some are rather oddly shaped and it seems that this one is somehow S-shaped.
This could be a redwood. It was certainly one of the tallest at the park.
In the neighbouring college, an avenue was lined with many #MonkeyPuzzleTrees.

Onto #Fauna, there were many #birds attracted to the #pond.
Here are a pair of nesting #Swans. They are obviously VIBs as they get to have their nest roped off from the #Hoipolloi.
Here's a pair of resting #Geese.
This #duck has a brood of ten #ducklings. At one point, it threatened to attack some of the gulls also seen here when they got close to her kids.
