Test running the 16L dutch bucket with 12L water reservoir and 7W water pump.

I filled the bucket with 70% vermiculite and 30% perlite.

Running the water through to wash off the dust and will add another 16L container to grow 8 tiny Tim tomatoe plants.

Have to fix the stand to hold the weight as well as the 2 LED lights and will place it in the bedroom to watch them grow while enjoying the extra lights.

May put them outside when I have figured out a way to have electricity in ncthe balcony.

Today's gardening work almost done!

Repotted some of the seedlings using the mix of #compst (2 parts) coco peat (2 parts) and #Perlite (one part) after the soil was microwaved to kill any soil gnats.

I have about 17 tiny Tim midget #tomatoes. 6 Armenian #cucumbers, 6 small cucumbers, 8 beef tomatoes and several #peppers and #spinach (not in these pictures).

Running out of space and soon I am hoping to be able to move everything out on the #balcony.

Moving to nuclear option in fight against soil #gnats.

Need to make a few nursery pots and mixing compost with Coco peat , but put the mix in the microwave for 3-4 minutes at a time before mixing the #Perlite.

So sick of gnats eating the roots of my #seedlings and killing them, not to mention the annoying black "flies" buzzing around all the time and going for my nose when I'm in bed.

I'm also adding soapy water with #NeemOil mix to the soil before putting the seedlings in.

Not taking any chances, this is war....

Having a lot of problems growing #Dill!

Finally found out what the problem is. I have soil #gnat #infestation, using soapy water with #Neem oil seems to work on some of the plants but not these (have 4 of them with similar sad look).

I may have to bite the bullet and buy some #pesticide for these. Really need to have dill as my stash of dried dill is running out and hate to pay ridiculous prices for tiny bunch as the shops here.

I was worried thaty strawberries from last year were not doing so well.

Gave them a boost of organic fertilizer last week and now I see a little flower popping up.

I really don't like #strawberries, but love to grow them. They are so pretty and love to keep expanding them via the runners.

But I kill more plants than I ever eat their fruits. And it's one of the plants I've never been able to grow from seeds!

3 lettuce heads with their roots from Lidl!

While I'm waiting for my lettuce to become big enough to eat, I bought another tricolor-lettuce from #Lidl today.

I'm going to clean up the roots, get rid of all the coco peat there and put them in my #IKEA #Krydda hydroponic unit.

Already cut some leaves for last night's sandwich. I'm sure these will thrive in my system and will have fresh lettuce for many days ahead of me.

Finally a seed starting tray made out of silicon.

I have been waiting for such item to become available. It will make things so much better, but unfortunately the price is a bit high for a 12 seed unit.

I have to wait and see when larger units start popping up.

It is well worth the investment and makes me happy to be able to reuse them without being crazy careful as I am today withy plastic trya that are really crappy quality and made for single usage

3 different seedlings growing in different condition

All 3 were planted at the same time.

The one on the left was put in vermiculite substrate fed with heavily fertilized water.

The one in the middle, is in clay balls and same fertilizer mix.

The one on the right is in soil and not fed anything since the pot mix is 30% compost.

The difference is amazing.

Finally found the variety of #Armenian #Cucumber I have been looking for.

Asked in an Iranian group about it and got a lot of answers that I have already tried, then someone mentioned "Painted Serpent cucumber" and searching the web, I cam across this guy who had some info about them

This delectable cuke may also be called the serpent melon, and the plain, light green type is known as the Armenian cucumber.
Now I have to find a seller in Europe who can deliver them fast hoping to be able to grow them this summer, they take up to 72 days to mature.
