#dill

Another major batch of #parsley from one of #IKEA #Växer units.

This time is about 700g and going to freeze them while waiting for the next batch to grow (I have one more with parsley, one with #leek, #coriander, #mint, and #dill that are not producing as much. Each unit has 15 grow holes. One is almost empty. I am missing #taragon and I'm missing Iranian Shanbalileh (شَنبَلیله یا به فارسی دری شینبل (نام علمی: Trigonella foenum-graecum) ) to have all vegetables I need except to spinach that is not worth growing in small space that I have to be self sufficient in having all necessary vegetables for cooking different Iranian dishes.

This single Ikea unit has givene 5 batch of parsley since I started it and ther are no sign of decline as ww are getting closer to summer.

It has already paid off the initial cost I paid for it and from now on, it's all profit. Next it trying to setup the Mimi tower unit to grow them with solar powered water pumps and sunshine (no artificial LEDs for this trial.

Just need to buy some fertilizer because running low.

I'm completely out of dill, both dry and fresh, so starting to grow a lot of them to be planted on the balcony later.

I use #dill a lot, in tuna salad, in omelette, in a dish from northern #Iran and in #pickles. I grew some this year and used them mostly in cooking but the rest fell victim for buys and bacterial diseases.

So started a whole new batch. Less than half of the seeds germinated, but that should be plenty for me in the coming months. Going to grow them inside in soil with mix of artificial and sun from the balcony windows.

Having a lot of problems growing #Dill!

Finally found out what the problem is. I have soil #gnat #infestation, using soapy water with #Neem oil seems to work on some of the plants but not these (have 4 of them with similar sad look).

I may have to bite the bullet and buy some #pesticide for these. Really need to have dill as my stash of dried dill is running out and hate to pay ridiculous prices for tiny bunch as the shops here.

Huge harvest of fresh vegetables/herbs from 4 small pots on the balcony.

The aroma is just amazingm. 3 types of #Basil, #parsley, #chives, #dill, #spinach and #radish leaves.

Going to make a paste of it like my mother used to do l, similar to #Pesto, but with peppers and garlic added since these basils are different than the Italian ones used in Pesto.

Then some baking to eat fresh bread with the paste and Bulgarian feta cheese!

A stroll around the back #garden. My spouse is the person responsible for most of this bounty.

The #tomatoes have appreciated the hot conditions of the #summer and are bearing #flowers and #fruit.

Meanwhile, it is too early for the #pumpkin patch to produce #squashes yet but the flowers are also edible. We've had just a few in dishes. You can also see #dill flowers here and as the subject in the subsequent #photograph.
