https://m.ai6yr.org/@ai6yr/113618651601813864 ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org - Hoshigaki season in Southern California. Hoshigaki (Japanese dried persimmons) are made from hachiya persimmons, which are peeled before soft, with their stems preserved in a "t" shape and hung--traditionally outside in Japan--and regularly massaged.  They come out extremely, extremely sweet -- with a layer of sugar that forms on the outside. #gardening #preserving #hoshigaki

https://retro.pizza/@mighty_orbot/113618839599715625 mighty_orbot@retro.pizza - When we brought our Tabasco pepper plants inside this fall, it didn’t take long to see the aphids all over the leaves. We tried a (non-toxic) spray but they kept reappearing.

Then one day I noticed a ladybug trapped in our house trying to get out a closed window, and it occurred to me there was an easier way to solve the pest problem.

Two ladybugs are now relocated to our plants, and seem to be very happy munching up the aphids for us.

Answers: Yes, but over winter. It'll bolt too soon in spring/summer.
Yes but if they're not shallow.

Wife and I are compiling a list of what we want to grow next year and I have two questions for #gardening Mastodon:Can celery successfully be grown in zone 7, and can regular onions be grown in raised beds or large containers?

I love my indoor hydroponic.

I just found out that it's not a cross pollination, but a different plant growing on the side of the #Serrano #pepper.

I believe it's from the seeds of peppers I bought at little Africa in #Paris many years ago. It's probably some kind of #habanero, but I'm not sure what.

I am worried it's going to be really hard to move them when I finally manage to buy a little house!

bloody hell my plant was devoured by these bastards inna day or 2 not watching it.

I have only a handful of plants I use for my home cooking. Usually look them up to make sure they are okay, but neglected them for a few days and came up to an empty branch where all the greens were eaten by 100s of these little guys.

Pulled yurm and going to move them to the big grass areas by the park. But I'm sure they don't like grass and will not survive thery.

We work in partnership with growers, soil, seeds, plants, animals, & insects to improve the wellbeing of our planet & each other.
After what has been a long, exhausting election cycle, we offer this: You matter. Your neighbors matter. Your community matters. Perhaps one antidote to extreme polarization is extreme care.
We needn't look far to find inspiring models of mutualism & care. We might sit for a while & watch the bees buzz around our gardens. Or walk into the woods & imagine the mycelial networks beneath our feet, sharing & distributing essential nutrients for soil & plant life.
We can look to the ironwood trees providing protection for the slow-growing, vulnerable saguaro cactus.
Relationships & care make the world go round. Wherever you are today, we're sending you love, care, & peace."

It was time to change my indoor hydroponic a little. It was getting too big and with the girls coming to visit, it was time to lift up the light a little.

Used a small pallet and wood from a full size one to build a small table plus 2 Pilar's to hold the light up.

Right now the light is just sitting there, but have to find a way to secure it.

I have 3 pepper plants abs one flower plant in 2 dutch buckets there connected to an analog timer to circulate the water 3 times per day.
