Amongst the things I did was taking down the above ground pool that the house came with. Me and @Vik-Thor / Lirleni Hankeshe with a little bit of help from Chakat Silvertail. That was a lot of work, and now we have a mess to clean up in the backyard. We got most of the water out before finally just pulling the pool down, and we were able to do it with a minimum of damage, so if'n you're in #STL , there's a free pool here, you'll need to haul it off and get a new liner. Apparently the old owner didn't do a good job of cleaning, there was a lot of junk in the bottom of the pool that we hadn't realized was there. That and the liner was old, plus I don't think it's reusable after breaking down the pool.

In #Missouri, a Girl Scout troop has split from the organization after the group made legal threats against the girls for running a fundraiser benefiting Palestinian children. Girl Scout mother Nawal Abuhamdeh said that instead of selling cookies this year, her 10-year-old daughter and sister troop members decided to make and sell bracelets with beads in the colors of the Palestinian flag, spelling out âGazaâ and âPalestine.â The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri deemed the move âpolitical,â banning them from continuing their fundraiser for the Palestine Childrenâs Relief Fund. In response, the girls decided to part ways with the Girl Scouts organization. They are continuing their fundraiser, which has raised over $10,000 so far.

In 2022, Missouri was the first state to ban abortion when Roe v. Wade was overturned, and anti-abortion lawmakers in the state are continuing their streak of cruelty. On Wednesday, across party lines, Republicans rejected an amendment that would have added rape and incest exceptions to the stateâs total ban. Democratic state Sen. Tracy McCreery proposed the amendment by pleading with her colleagues to âshow an ounce of compassionâ for victims. As it currently exists, McCreery said the ban tells victims, âWeâre going to force you to give birth, even if that pregnancy resulted from forcible rape by a family member, a date, an ex-husband or a stranger.â ...

Missouri House Republicans voted to defund all of the stateâs public libraries, in a proposed $45.6 billion state budget that will soon move to a vote in the GOP-controlled state Senate.
The Missouri House debated for over eight hours last Tuesday on a budget that is roughly $2 billion less than the one Gov. Mike Parson (R) proposed last January, cutting not only the $4.5 million Parson had slated for libraries, but also costs for diversity initiatives, childcare and pre-kindergarten programs. ...
... âLibrary funding is guaranteed in the MO constitution,â the group wrote on Twitter. âThis tactic, meant to bully MLA into submission, instead directly harms public libraries who rely on those funds, especially the smaller, more rural libraries.â
Democrats also fought in support of the libraries; Rep. Peter Merideth (D-St. Louis) argued that it is ânot appropriateâ to punish libraries because Republicans are âmad that libraries are suing to questionâ censorship.

Missouri, a state with some of the most lax gun laws in the nation, and a virtual statewide ban on enforcing any federal gun laws. The ban comes in the form of the Second Amendment Preservation Act [SAPA] â a law designed to invalidate any federal regulation of guns or ammunition in the state.
The act, which Gov. Parson signed at a gun shop in June of 2021, states that any gun law that violates a citizenâs Second Amendment rights, by Missouriâs standards, cannot be enforced, essentially invalidating federal authority to regulate guns.

A Missouri Senate candidate holds a shotgun and calls for âRINO huntingâ in a new ad
A new campaign ad from Eric Greitens, the controversial former governor of Missouri now running for U.S. Senate, prompted accusations of glorifying political violence before being flagged by Twitter and removed by Facebook for violating policies around violence and abuse.
"Today, we're going RINO hunting," Greitens, a Republican, said with a smile as he slid the action on his shotgun in the 38-second ad. RINO stands for "Republican in name only."
Greitens and a team of men outfitted in military gear are then shown bursting into a home, guns raised.
"The RINO feeds on corruption and is marked by the stripes of cowardice," said Greitens. "Get a RINO hunting permit. There's no bagging limit, no tagging limit, and it doesn't expire until we save our country." ...
