#Winter necessity or chemical spill? I saw this "salt drift" in downtown #Ottawa today. It is almost 6" (20 cm) high. Definitely a tripping hazard. Ottawa uses much more salt than any other city in Canada, even Montreal which has the same climate and is much bigger.

Climb aboard Ottawa's new and improved Trillium Line

Ottawans will soon be able to ride the rails on the Trillium Line for the first time since May 2020.

The expanded north-south light rail line, including a new extension to the Ottawa International Airport, will officially open to the public on Jan 6.

and one last photo for today. We got to ride on the #OCTranspo #Alstom Citardis Spirit #trains of #Ottawa Line 1, the Confederation Line, on our way to skating downtown. The trains were surprisingly busy for a Sunday afternoon, too.

While downtown today we checked out #Ottawa Traffic Cone Festival. It was a great display with amazing groupings and colours. Traffic is totally disrupted, hardly anything can move at all!

Memorial to the Victims of Communism — Canada, a Land of Refuge

Well the day has finally arrived! Conceived in 2007, planned from 2009 and now officially opened to the public, @dailyjoy@diasp.org and I paid a visit to the memorial and took some photos of it today. Appropriately enough it was cold and windy and there was no one else there.

I tried to find the best angle to photograph it from, but it is hard to photograph. Coloured brown it disappears into the background, which is probably a good thing as it is really quite ugly. From the road it looks like a section of fencing, if you even notice it at all.
