#Ukraine did not accept 10 #Leopard 1A5 tanks sent by #Germany due to serious maintenance problems that would be impossible to solve due to a lack of qualified personnel and suitable parts for replacements.

Furthermore, after sending 20 Leopard 1A5s to Ukraine, the Danish MoD discovered that 12 of them have minor defects that are being repaired on Ukrainian soil.

Two of the tanks sent by #Denmark found in #Poland have "serious" defects.

PS. This is a great way for NATO nations to write off their old junk at high prices for the public in the name of "supporting Ukraine". /Farhad

#Poland’s president: Ukraine like ‘drowning person clinging to anything available’

“Ukraine is behaving like a drowning person clinging to anything available,” Duda told Polish journalists, the Financial Times reported. “A drowning person is extremely dangerous, capable of pulling you down to the depths … simply drown the rescuer.”

Public sentiment around the issue, however, has started to deteriorate, putting the ruling party in a difficult position ahead of a close October election. The far-right Confederation party is hoping to capitalize on the waning support in the country.

At the same time, however, Duda has maintained his commitment to helping Ukraine. In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday, Duda reaffirmed his support for defeating Russia completely.

#Russia can be stopped only if it is defeated, and it will be defeated when #Ukraine pushes out the Russian army from the occupied territories, thanks to the help of the United States, thanks to the help of the West, and when it regains control over its internationally recognized borders,” Duda said in the interview.

Poland is no longer transferring weapons to Ukraine

Chancellery of the Prime Minister of #Poland Mateusz Morawiecki speaking to PolsatNews.pl:

— "Ukraine is defending itself against the brutal Russian attack and I understand this situation, but as I said, we, Poles, will protect our country (first).

We no longer transfer weapons to #Ukraine, because we are now arming Poland."

The Polish Prime Minister threatened Ukraine to expand the list of banned Ukrainian products if Kiev imposes its own embargo on imports of certain Polish food products.

Because #Zelensky protested Poland's decision, the Warsaw government summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to #Poland.

It seems like there is no honor among thieves after all.

Ukrainian president, Vladimir #Zelenskyy accuses #Poland of "helping #Russia" in his #UN address at the Sustainable Development Goals Summit.

Russia has blocked our Black and #Azov sea ports and continues to target our Danube ports with missiles and drones. It tries to weaponize global food shortages in exchange for recognition of some, if not all, of the captured territories. Russia is launching food prices as weapons.

We opened a temporary sea export corridor. We’re working to preserve land routes. Alarmingly, some in #Europe play out solidarity in a political theater—turning grain into a thriller. They may seem to play their own roles. In fact they’re helping set the stage for a #Moscow actor.

Amid imports dispute, #Poland tells #Ukraine to remember its help.

"It would be good for Ukraine to remember that it receives help from us and to remember that we are also a transit country to Ukraine," Andrzej Duda told reporters.

"There are business circles that have interests in Ukraine and would like to sell grain as quickly as possible at the lowest possible cost. We have to defend ourselves against it," he said.

"I would compare it to something like a drowning person... A drowning person is extremely dangerous because he can pull you to the depths ... He can simply drown the rescuer."

#Georgia accuses Ukrainian official of plotting coup

Georgia on Monday accused a senior Ukrainian official of plotting to overthrow the Black Sea nation’s government by organising mass unrest, in the blatest episode of escalating tensions between the ex-Soviet countries.

#Kyiv said the claim was “untrue” and called it a Georgian attempt to “demonise” the war-torn country.

Tbilisi has been accused of cooperating with the #Kremlin even though Russian forces have deployed to separatist regions of #Abkhazia and South Ossetia since 2008, when #Moscow invaded the tiny #Caucasus country.

Georgian security services said the deputy chief of Ukraine’s military counterintelligence and Georgia’s former deputy interior minister, Giorgi Lortkipanidze, were plotting “destabilisation aimed at a violent overthrow of the government.”

It said Georgians fighting Russian forces in #Ukraine, including a bodyguard of Georgia’s jailed ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili, were among the conspirators being trained near Ukraine’s border with #Poland.

Ukraine has repeatedly called for Georgia to release #Saakashvili, who is now a Ukrainian national and a top advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr #Zelensky.

Kyiv has said that the Georgian authorities are “killing” the ailing politician on Kremlin orders and has demanded his transfer to a clinic abroad.

Georgia in turn has condemned what it said was “an extreme form of escalation in diplomatic relations”.

Georgia’s security service said anti-government protests “are being planned for October and December, when the European Commission is set to publish its decision on Georgia’s #EU membership application.”

It said the plot “is being carried out with the coordination and funding from a foreign country.”

Ukraine denied the allegations.

“This information is untrue,” Kyiv’s foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said on Facebook.

“The current Georgian authorities are once again trying to demonise Ukraine in order to solve their internal political issues,” it said, adding:

“The Ukrainian state has not interfered, is not interfering and does not plan to interfere in Georgia’s internal affairs.”

The EU recognised Georgia’s “European perspective” last year, but deferred its membership application while granting candidacy to fellow ex-Soviet Ukraine and Moldova.

That has led to mass anti-government protests in Tbilisi, where the government is facing accusations of backsliding on its commitments to democracy and undermining Georgia’s EU membership bid.

Earlier in September, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said “there is still quite a bit of work to be done” by #Tbilisi to be granted formal candidate status.
