370 pro-Russian disinformation sites discovered in Bulgaria
An analysis by the Sofia-based Human and Social Studies Foundation identified 370 websites spreading Russian propaganda and disinformation, Euractiv wrote on June 20.
The research, presented last week in Sofia, indicated that the fast growth of the so-called "mushroom sites" is one of the causes of the rapid spread of Russian propaganda in the country.
Mushroom sites are online media websites created in bulk by malicious actors to spread propaganda and disinformation.
"In 2022, Russian propaganda spread powerfully in the Bulgarian online space. Compared to the previous year, 2021, by the end of 2022, it rose almost 20 times. Propaganda increased in two periods – at the beginning and the end of the year," Euractiv cited the analysis.

The Sudanese Air Force is continuing to conduct #Airstrikes against the Positions of the Rapid Support Force (RSF) that are in or near Khartoum International Airport in the Sudanese Capital; these Airstrikes come as it was said the U.S/Coalition Evacuation Operation was going to begin soon and that it would be utilizing this Airport.

#Police in Bulgaria made a horrifying discovery when they found an #abandoned #truck containing the bodies of 18 dead #migrants who appear to have suffocated to death inside a secret compartment.
The country's Interior Ministry said the truck appeared to have been carrying around 40 migrants, with the survivors taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
Bulgarian Health Minister Assen Medzhidiev said most of the survivors were in a serious condition.
At least 18 people have been found dead in #Bulgaria in an abandoned truck near the capital #Sofia, officials said.
The #truck was transporting timber and carrying #refugees and #migrants hidden in a compartment, the country’s interior ministry said in a statement on Friday.
Health minister Asen Medzhidiev said 34 survivors, including five children, were rushed to hospitals in Sofia and some were in critical, but stable condition.
“There has been a lack of oxygen to those who were locked in this truck. They were #freezing, wet, they have not eaten for several days,” Medzhidiev told reporters.
